# Update dependencies of BIAs in Self-Service

Use contributor role to update the impact category result, RPO Impact analysis responses, state of the impact dependency group, and the work notes in the **Activity** section.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn\_bcm.contributor or sn\_bcm.viewer

If you are a BCM contributor and are part of the Contributors list or you are a BCM viewer, you can update the dependency details of a BIA.

## Procedure

1.  Navigate to **All** > **Self-Service** > **My Impact Analysis**.

2.  View the list of business impact analysis records that are assigned to you and the BIAs that you can contribute to.

3.  Select the BIA record and view the details.

4.  Update the **State** of the BIA.

5.  To update the record, select **Update**.


## Result

**Note:** You cannot add or update dependency items when the business impact analysis is in the **Pending approval** state. Make your dependency updates before the business impact analysis is submitted for approval, or wait until it returns to an editable state.
