Fill in information about evidence location, and create a chain of custody log to keep track of evidence if or when it is transferred or moved. ## Before you begin Role required: icm.investigator, supervisory\_agent, admin ## About this task With Investigative Case Management Evidence Management, investigators can upload or log new evidence \(physical or digital, such as documents, images, or physical items\), map it to the investigation, and assign it to a subject, event, location entity. They can also then track the movement, transfer, and status changes of evidence records with timestamps and responsible personnel for each action with the digital chain of custody feature. The following example shows the Details tab of an evidence record. \[Omitted image "psds-icm-evidence-details-view.png"\] Alt text: evidence details view ## Procedure 1. Navigate to the CRM Workspace and select **My active cases**. Alternatively, you can select a case using the CRM Workspace Lists menu by selecting **Lists** > **Investigative Cases** > **All** and selecting the case. 2. Select the case you wish to add evidence to. 3. Select the **Evidence** tab. 4. Select **Add New**. 5. On the form, fill in the fields with information about the evidence. For more information about the information collected in this form, see [Investigative Case Management Evidence Management Evidence form fields](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/government-industry/psds-icm-ref-case-forms-evm-ev.md). 6. You can associate any number of existing case entities to the evidence record for record-keeping. For information on linking entities to evidence records, see [Associate and link evidence to entities](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/government-industry/psds-using-icm-associate-evidence-entities.md). ## What to do next You can create a chain of custody log within the workspace to keep track of evidence if or when it is transferred or moved. For information on creating a chain of custody log, see [Create a chain of custody log for an evidence record in an investigative case](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/government-industry/psds-using-icm-create-chain-of-custody-log.md).
