Field Description
Type Type of record that the sub-activity creates when the work set runs. Options are:- **Standard**: Creates a child task from a referenced published standard. - **Action**: Creates an industrial action with the specified short description.
Standard Published standard to create as a child task in the work set. Visible and required when **Type** is **Standard**. All published standard types are available, including Centerline standards. Work set standards are excluded because a work set can't contain another work set. Available standards are filtered to those that are global or in the user's site.
Short description Short description for the generated action. Visible when **Type** is **Action**.
LOTO\(TO\) Level Lockout/Tagout safety level required for the action. Options are LOTO Level 0, LOTO Level 1, LOTO Level 2, and LOTO Level 3. Visible when **Type** is **Action**.
Line Status Required status of the production line for the action. Options are Running and Stopped. Visible when **Type** is **Action**.
Knowledge Article Knowledge article that provides background for the operator who executes the action. Only knowledge articles in the Published state are available for selection. Visible when **Type** is **Action**.
Functional location Work area where the sub-activity runs. Filtered to the location of the parent standard when the parent is of scope local. When the parent is global, all functional locations are available.
Equipment Equipment for which the sub-activity runs. This field is hidden when **Functional location** is empty. Filtered to equipment in the selected functional location.
Values to copy from work set task Fields whose values are copied from the parent work set task to the generated child task or action during a work set creation process. Use this field when a value should be supplied at execution time instead of on the sub-activity.
Schedule-based exception If cleared, the generated child task uses the planned start and end times of the work set task.If selected, a custom schedule determines when the sub-activity generates a child task. At work set generation time, the system evaluates the schedule to find occurrences. An occurrence that starts within the work set task's planned start and end time sets the planned start and end time of the child task. If no occurrence falls within that timeframe, no child task is created for that iteration. To configure the schedule, save the sub-activity, then select **Configure schedule**. For field descriptions, see[Custom schedule plan form](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/industrial-connected-workforce/digital-factory-workspace/custom-schedule-plan-form.md). The **Repeat until** field isn't available when configuring a sub-activity schedule.
## How field values are resolved at runtime When instantiating sub-activities, the system applies the following rules: 1. Short description \(for action\): The short description from the sub-activity configuration is used as the short description for the child task \(sub-activity\). 2. Functional location and equipment: When no functional location and equipment are defined in the sub-activity configuration, the functional location and equipment of the Work Set Standard are inherited by the child task. 3. Collision handling: In case values for the sub-activity are defined in multiple locations for the same field, the follow order is used \(top is most important\): - Functional location - equipment field - short description - Values to copy from work set task 4. If the dedicated field on the sub-activity is set. 5. If the **Values to copy from work set task** field is empty. If a functional location is not provided in either location, the standard can't be saved. A message prompts you to set a custom location on the sub-activity or to add the field to **Values to copy from work set task**. When the sub-activity is of type **Action**, the **LOTO\(TO\) Level**, **Line Status**, and **Knowledge Article** values, when defined, are copied to the generated action. ## How schedule-based sub-activities generate child tasks When a work set task is created and a sub-activity has **Schedule-based exception** selected, the system evaluates the sub-activity's schedule to find occurrences. A child task is created only if at least one occurrence starts within the work set task's planned start and end time. A maximum of one child task is created per work set task and sub-activity. Child task planned times are determined as follows: - If exactly one occurrence falls within the timeframe, the occurrence's start and end times are used for the child task. - If multiple occurrences fall within the timeframe, the work set task's planned start and end times are used for the child task. If no occurrence falls within the work set task's timeframe, no child task is created for that iteration. **Parent Topic:**[Industrial Standards reference](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/industrial-connected-workforce/digital-factory-workspace/industrial-standards-reference.md) **Related topics** [Work set standards](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/industrial-connected-workforce/digital-factory-workspace/work-set-standards.md) [Work set standard and task life cycles](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/industrial-connected-workforce/digital-factory-workspace/work-set-standard-task-life-cycle.md)
