Metadata collectors provide read-only access to external data systems and harvest information about data assets, making them searchable and discoverable in the catalog. Each collector type is designed for a specific platform and processes that platform's metadata structure. Configuration involves setting up source-system prerequisites and creating a collector record for each platform. \[Omitted image "dc-mcollector-list.png"\] Alt text: List of metadata collectors ## Connection states Metadata collectors progress through the following states as you configure and validate them: - **Not configured** The collector has been created but required fields are incomplete. Complete all mandatory fields including system details, connection credentials, and at least one endpoint configuration to move to the next state. - **Configured** All required information has been provided, but credentials have not yet been validated. The collector moves to Connected status after credentials are successfully verified when the collector runs successfully. - **Connected** Credentials have been validated and the connection is working. The collector is ready to harvest metadata from the source system. - **Expired** The connection is broken due to expired authentication details.
