# Use the GetPart component

Get the value of a part of the date format by using the GetPart component in RPA Desktop Design Studio. For example, you might want to get the value of the month in the MM/DD/YYYY format.

## About this task

You can configure the properties for the GetPart component. For more information about these properties, see [Properties of the DateTime components](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/integrate-applications/util-datetime-prop.md).

## Procedure

1.  In the Toolbox pane, navigate to **Utilities** > **DateTime**.

2.  Drag the GetPart component to the Design surface.

3.  To configure the input fields, see [Configure port properties](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/integrate-applications/configure-input-port-properties.md).

4.  Connect the data and control ports of the GetPart component to the corresponding ports of the other components as described in the following table.
