You can use the Base Asset Management new user interface, referred to as Asset Workspace, or continue using the classic Base Asset Management. The Base Asset Management application's core functionality remains the same in both the user interfaces. If you’re using the Base Asset Management application newly from the Vancouver release, the Asset Workspace is installed by default. **Note:** Asset Workspace is not installed by default. It is available starting in the San Diego release. It is installed by default only on zBoot ServiceNow instances, not on ServiceNow instances upgraded to the latest version. When the Hardware Asset Management application is activated, the Hardware Asset Workspace replaces the Asset Workspace. ## Using the Asset Management Workspace The Asset Workspace is a unified medium with multiple views that help you manage your assets efficiently. The views give you visibility into key aspects of your assets. These include dashboards on stockroom, asset count by model, lifecycle state, model category, and overall asset performance. The Asset Workspace contains the following views: - [Hardware asset overview](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/it-asset-management/asset-management/hardware-asset-overview-am.md) - [Inventory view](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/it-asset-management/asset-management/inventory-view-am.md) - [Asset estate view](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/it-asset-management/asset-management/asset-estate-view-am.md) - [Model management view](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/it-asset-management/asset-management/model-management-view-am.md) - [Contract management view](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/it-asset-management/asset-management/contract-mgmt-view-am.md) If you’re upgrading to the Vancouver release, you must activate the Asset Management Workspace \(sn\_itam\_workspace\) plugin to use the Asset Workspace. **Note:** After moving to Asset Workspace, you can still use the Asset Management classic.
