# Associate a discrete asset to a linear asset

Associate a discrete asset to a linear asset in order to query and find these assets from the linear asset at a later point of time.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn\_eam.enterprise\_asset\_manager

## Procedure

1.  Navigate to **Enterprise Asset Workspace** > **Enterprise asset estate** > **Linear assets**.

2.  Open the linear asset record with which you want to associate a discrete asset.

3.  Select the Discrete assets related list.

4.  Select **New**.

5.  On the form, fill in the fields.

**Discrete asset**

Name of the discrete asset.

**Linear asset**

Name of the linear asset that the discrete asset is associated to.

**Marker**

</td><td>

Marker of the discrete asset. You can either select an existing marker or select the location picker to create a marker. Marker must be within the linear asset boundary, which is defined by the boundary width of the linear asset.

Description of the discrete asset.
