# Add work items to Sprint planning Backlog in CWM

Create and add new work items to the Backlog directly from the Sprint planning view of Collaborative Work Management.

## Before you begin

Role required: sn\_cwm.cwm\_user

## Procedure

1.  Navigate to **Workspaces** > **Collaborative Work Management**.

2.  From a Space, select a Board that you're performing sprint planning for.

3.  Select the **Sprint planning** tab.

4.  From the Backlog pane, select the Add item \(\[Omitted image "cwm-icon-add-item.png"\] Alt text: Add item icon.\) icon.

5.  Select the work item type from the **Item type** drop-down list.

    The default work item type available is Task. You can enable other types such as Story or create a custom type. 6.  On the form, fill in the details for the item such as short description, start and end dates, story points, and others.

7.  Select **Submit**.


## Result

The newly created work item is added to the Backlog.
