# Access the project workbench

Access the project workbench from the Project form or from the application navigator.

## Before you begin

Role required: it\_project\_manager

## Procedure

-   Access the project workbench in one of the following ways.

**From Planning Console**

1.  Open a project record in [project workspace](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/it-business-management/project-workspace/access-the-project-workspace.md).
2.  Select the **Planning** tab.
3.  Select the **Planning Console** selection arrow on the banner and select **Project Workbench**.

**From a project record**

1.  Navigate to a project record in **Details** tab in project workspace.
2.  Select the **Project Workbench** related link.

</table>    **Note:** If the project workbench opens with no associated sys\_id or an incorrect sys\_id, an error message appears. Select a project from the project choice list in project workspace banner.
