# Remove a dependency

Use the planning console to remove a dependency that is no longer necessary.

## Before you begin

Role required: it\_project\_manager

## About this task

Removing the dependency also deletes the dependency record in the Planned Task Relationship table.

## Procedure

1.  Open the project in the planning console.

2.  Do either of the following.

**On the Gantt chart**

-   Right-click the relationship and then select **Delete Link**.
-   Double-click the relationship and then select **Delete** on the **Planned Task Relationship** form that appears.

**On the WBS list**

</td><td>

-   Delete the value in the **Predecessor** column.
-   Select the value in the **Predecessor** column and then select **Delete** on the **Planned Task Relationship** form that appears.
