# Activate the Advanced Promotion Engine

Before you can use the Advanced Promotion Engine feature, you must activate it from the list of plugins.

Role required: evt\_mgmt\_admin

## About this task

To activate the *var.adv-promo-eng*, you also need to install a plugin for ACC-M, which includes Metric Intelligence plugin, as described in [Exploring Agent Client Collector Monitoring](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/it-operations-management/agent-client-collector/exploring-agent-client-collector-monitoring.md).

If you don't plan to use ACC-M, install Metrics Intelligence plugin only, as described in [Get started with Metric Intelligence](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/it-operations-management/metric-intelligence/get-started-metrics.md).

## Procedure

1.  Navigate to **System Definition** > **Plugins**.

2.  Locate **Advanced Promotion Engine** \(id: sn\_metric\_promote\).

3.  Select the entry and review the app details on the **Store Application Advanced Promotion Engine** form.

4.  Select **Activate/Upgrade** in the Related Links section.

5.  Select **Activate**.
