# Set up file management

Set up files you want to track and manage with DEX on your organization devices. For example, you can identify and remove any dangerous `.exe` files that pose a security risk.

## Before you begin

Role required: admin

## Procedure

1.  Navigate to **Workspaces** > **Service Operations Workspace**.

2.  In the primary navigation pane, select the DEX Administration icon \(\[Omitted image "icon-administration.png"\] Alt text:\).

3.  Select **Configure** on the File management card.

4.  On the File management page, select **Add files**.

5.  In the Add files form, enter a file name and select one of the following categories for the file:

    -   Application
    -   Malicious
    -   Security
    -   Development tools
    -   System
    -   Others
    -   Installers
    -   Potentially Unwanted Programs
    **Note:** Files you want to monitor must end in `.exe`. The maximum character limit for the file name is 256 characters, including the `.exe` extension.

6.  Add one or more files by selecting **Add**.

    You can manage up to 20 files.

7.  Select **Save**.


## Result

The data for the files you set up appears after the next policy run.
