# Exploring Basic Software Asset Management

The Basic Software Asset Management \(com.snc.sams\) supports tracking, evaluating, and managing software licenses and compliance. You can access this functionality through the Software Asset Workspace or the Software Asset Management Core UI.

The Basic Software Asset Management \(com.snc.sams\) application's core functionality remains the same in both the user interfaces.

## Using the Software Asset Workspace

To use the Software Asset Workspace, activate the Basic Software Asset Management \(com.snc.sams\) and then activate the Software Asset Workspace \(sn\_sam\_workspace\) store app.

**Note:** After you activate the Software Asset Workspace store app, you can't revert to the classic Basic Software Asset Management application.

## Using the Software Asset Management Core UI

To use the Software Asset Management Core UI, activate the Basic Software Asset Management \(com.snc.sams\). You don't need to activate any additional plugins.

If you later decide to use the Software Asset Workspace, activate the Software Asset Workspace \(sn\_sam\_workspace\) store application.
