# Configure Variable time slots for appointment booking

Variable time slots, such as work duration and dates, for appointments can be configured and booked based on the reason for a location. The reason can be an issue or request.

This feature enables you to do the following:

-   Configure variable time slots for booking an appointment based on the different reason for a location by creating advanced configurations and service configuration rules.

    **Note:** The service configuration rules and the advanced configurations must not overlap each other.

-   Communicate to the customers about the availability of the agents for a location.
-   Manage the walk-up locations and resources more effectively and efficiently.

To enable this feature, select the **Enable advanced configurations** check box on the Appointment Booking Service Configuration form.

You can create multiple advance configurations for a service configuration rule.
