# Create a calendar report data visualization
Create calendar report visualizations to show and highlight date-driven events.
## Before you begin
Role required: Anyone with access to data can create a visualization of that data on any dashboard that they can edit. Users with the itil, report\_user, admin, or viz\_creator role can create a visualization in the Visualization Designer. When you create a visualization in the Visualization Designer, it is saved to the Library. For more information on access, see [Report\_view access control](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/now-intelligence/reporting/report-view-access-control.md) and [Platform Analytics roles](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/now-intelligence/platform-analytics-roles.md).
For information about the use of the Calendar report visualizations on dashboards, see [the Developer Site](https://developer.servicenow.com/dev.do#!/reference/next-experience/yokohama/shared-components/sn-par-calendar-connected/usage). This site gives information about Calendar report components in the UI Builder, and some configuration options may differ from the Visualization Designer.
## About this task
The calendar visualization is used to show activity over the course of a longer span of time than most data visualizations. Use them when you want to condense date-specific information into a small space.
**Note:** Calendar visualizations that are migrated from Core UI require a start time in the **Start date** field and an end time in the **End date** field. These fields aren't required in Core UI, but are required in Platform Analytics experience.
Calendar report limitations:
- You can limit the number of events that may be returned when you browse backwards in a calendar visualization. There is a limit of 30 days into the past, starting from the first day in the current Calendar view. Events that start more than 30 days before the first day visible on a calendar are not displayed. If you select **Year**, then the calendar includes events that start between December 1 of the previous year and December 31 of the current year.
The KB article [Weekly calendar view does not display all entries](https://support.servicenow.com/nav_to.do?uri=%2Fkb%3Fid%3Dkb_article_view%26sysparm_article%3DKB0598360) covers scenarios in which some expected entries do not display.
To show more or fewer days, edit the **glide.report.calendar.max\_days\_back** property. See [Reporting properties](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/now-intelligence/reporting/reporting-properties.md).
**Note:** Performance may degrade if this value is too large.
- This visualization type cannot be run as a scheduled export.
- Calendar visualizations on a start date field show the range of the field from the start date to the end date. Calendar visualizations on an end date field show only the end date.
## Procedure
1. Navigate to **All** > **Platform Analytics** > **Library** > **Data Visualizations**, or open an in-line dashboard and select **Edit**.
2. Select **Create data visualization**.
3. Select the Calendar Report \(\[Omitted image "inline-data-vis-calendar-days.png"\] Alt text: calendar icon\) visualization type.
4. In the configuration panel, configure the **Component header**.
Field
Description

Component title
A title for the calendar report visualization that reflects the information being shared.
Title alignment
Choose Start to align the title with the start of line, End to align it with the end of the line, or Center for center alignment.
Line of truncation
Specify where to truncate long labels with an ellipsis. Options are 1, 2, and 3.

Component description
Description you enter for the component. This field has a limit of 250 characters.
Show description
Adds an information icon to the visualization. This icon opens the component description in a pop-up.
5. In the **Data** section, specify the source table, predefined condition, date range, and filter options.

Predefined conditions
Predefined conditions from the Report Source \[sys\_report\_source\] table for filtering event records.
Edit filter table
Conditions for filtering event records. This filter is applied when the end user views the calendar. Users can filter further if a filter component is added to the page. **Note:** This property adds a filter condition in addition to the table and predefined conditions, if any are applied.
