# Activate the Microsoft translator configuration

Make the Microsoft translation service available for use by activating the Microsoft translator configuration.

## Before you begin

-   Create an account with Microsoft Azure for machine translation services, and set up the integration. For information see [Microsoft Azure Translator Service spoke](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/platform-administration/dynamic-translation/microsoft-translation-spoke.md) and [Create a connection for the MicrosoftTranslation alias](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/platform-administration/dynamic-translation/create-connection-ms-translation.md).
-   Role required: admin.

## Procedure

1.  Navigate to **All** > **Dynamic Translation** > **Translator Configurations**.

2.  Select **Microsoft**.

3.  Select the **Active** check box.

4.  In the **Preferences** section, choose this translator as default for translation or detection, or for both.

    |Field|Description|
    |-----|-----------|
    |Mark as default for translation|Option to mark the translator as default for translation.|
    |Mark as default for detection|Option to mark the translator as default for detection of the language of a text.|

5.  Select **Update**.
