# ServiceNow product documentation external content connector

The ServiceNow® product documentation external content connector retrieves topics from the ServiceNow product documentation and makes their content and metadata searchable in AI Search applications.

**Note:** This external content connector is not included in the External Content Connectors Application Suite application. To use this connector, you must install it separately. For details on installation, see [Install External Content Connectors](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/platform-administration/search-administration/install-ext-cont-connectors.md).

The system automatically schedules monthly content crawls to retrieve updated content from the product documentation for a family release that you specify. Search administrators can run one-time content crawls to update content ahead of schedule.

The indexed content and metadata are stored as records in a connector-specific indexed source. Search administrators can create search sources from this indexed source and link them to search profiles to make the indexed records searchable in AI Search applications.
