Key functions include: - Peer-level comparisons: Analyze a user's role and group entitlements in comparison to other users within the same company, department, or managed by the same person. - Identification of over-provisioning: By highlighting differences in access between comparable users, you can pinpoint users that may have excessive permissions. - Troubleshooting and compliance: Quickly identify and resolve access-related issues and ensure that access controls are consistent and compliant across similar job functions. Based on the insights gained, you can decide if a user has inappropriate access \(either too much or too little\) and make the necessary adjustments to their roles and groups to ensure consistency and compliance. **Important:** As a best practice, compare users at a peer-level \(same organization, same department, same manager\). You enable Access Insights in **Settings**. To learn more, see [Configuring Access Insights](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/platform-security/access-control/configure-access-insights.md). You use Access Insights while comparing users' access with the **Compare user access** feature in Access Analyzer.
