When you select a template, you’re choosing a configuration that aligns with industry-standard ways of organizing and communicating with APIs. Selecting a common response format \(JSON\), HTTP methods \(GET or POST\), and well-known pagination strategies makes connecting with a wide variety of security tools easier. You have the option to get guidance for selecting a template with a ServiceNow Otto for Unified Security Exposure Management skill for this step. See [Using generative AI skills](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/security-management/using-now-assist-skills-vulnerability-response.md) for more information about the generative AI skill and [Creating an API connector with generative AI](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/security-management/using-now-assist-api-connector.md) about using the skill in connector framework.
