Create and manage change requests directly from a remediation task if a manual and controlled process of any kind is required for modification or removal of supported configuration items \(CIs\) in your CMDB. Creating and managing change requests directly from a record helps you investigate and resolve vulnerabilities quickly. See [Change management for Vulnerability Response](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/security-management/vulnerability-response/vuln-change_mgmnt_ovrvw.md) for an overview of how change management works with the Vulnerability Response application and the system requirements. Refer to the following topics for how to create change requests, associate remediation tasks to existing change requests, and split remediation tasks. See [State synchronization between change requests and remediation tasks](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ServiceNow/ServiceNowDocs/australia/markdown/australia/security-management/vulnerability-response/vuln_change_mgmnt_state_synch.md) for information about how state fields on change requests \(CHG\) automatically resolve remediation tasks.
