# Exploring Assessments and Surveys

The Assessments and Surveys application helps you create, send, and collect responses for surveys. The application also helps you evaluate, score, and rank records from any table in the system. Create questionnaires that you can assign to one or more users to assess their knowledge of any subject.

## Create basic surveys to obtain collective data for analysis

You can create, send, and collect responses for basic surveys. If installed, you can also use a survey widget to set up a survey on Service Portal.

## Evaluate, rank, and score the data to provide summarized results using Assessments

You can assess projects that executives want to evaluate for effective management, or rate and compare a vendor's goods and services. Use assessments to send custom questionnaires to selected users or write scripts that query the database directly.

## Use quizzes to test user knowledge

The quiz functionality is built on the assessment engine and provides many of the same features as assessments and surveys.
