# App Store Distribution Exception VibeSDR is licensed under the **GNU General Public License, version 3** (see [`LICENSE`](LICENSE)). The author and sole copyright holder, **Stuart Carr**, grants the following additional permission under section 7 of the GPLv3. ## Additional permission As an exception to the terms of the GNU GPL version 3, you have permission to convey ("distribute") the Program through the **Apple App Store**, the **Apple TestFlight** service, and **Google Play**, and to accept the standard usage terms and conditions imposed by Apple Inc. and Google LLC on applications distributed through those services, **notwithstanding** any term of the GPL (including, but not limited to, the device- and account-based usage limits, the prohibition on redistribution of the store binary, and the digital-rights-management measures applied by those stores) that would otherwise conflict with such distribution. This additional permission applies **only** to the official binaries signed and submitted by the copyright holder. It does not restrict any of the rights granted to you by the GPLv3 in the source code itself: the complete corresponding source for every released binary is, and will remain, publicly available at , and you remain free to copy, modify, and redistribute that source under the terms of the GPLv3. If you modify VibeSDR and distribute your modified version, you may keep or remove this additional permission at your option (GPLv3 ยง7 allows downstream removal of additional permissions). --- *Why this exists:* the Free Software Foundation considers the standard Apple App Store terms to conflict with the GPL. As the sole copyright holder, the author issues this explicit additional permission so the official build can be offered on the App Store while the project remains free software under the GPLv3.
