##### Upstream Context

- The `routingprocessor` was **deprecated upstream** in OpenTelemetry Collector Contrib in [v0.116.0](https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-collector-contrib/releases/tag/v0.116.0).
- Upstream recommends migrating to [**`routingConnector`**](https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-collector-contrib/tree/main/connector/routingconnector), which provides a clearer and more scalable routing model.

##### Migration

The routing connector supports all features of the routing processor and more. However, the configuration is different. The general idea is the same, but there are a few key differences:

- Rather than routing directly to exporters, the routing connector routes to pipelines. This allows for processors to be included after routing decisions.
- The connector is configured within the `connectors` section, rather than the `processors` section of the configuration.
- Usage of the connector in pipelines is different. You must use it as an exporter AND as a receiver in each pipeline to which it can route.
- Configuration is primarily based on [OTTL](https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-collector-contrib/tree/main/pkg/ottl#opentelemetry-transformation-language).
- Each route can be evaluated in a different [OTTL Context](https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-collector-contrib/blob/main/pkg/ottl/contexts/README.md#opentelemetry-transformation-language-contexts).

Starting from the example configuration below, we can achieve the same result with the routing connector:

:warning: Due to an infrastructure problem, this release lacks the MacOS binaries.
We hope to restore building the binaries for MacOS as soon as possible.

This release adds missing [receivers], [processors] and [extensions] from the OpenTelemetry Distribution.
It also includes `journald` binary required by [journaldreceiver]
and begin support of arm64 architecture for Darwin OS.

With this release, we are officially out of beta status and in GA, as in General Availability. 🎉

This means the software is ready to be used by all customers (without signing up for beta program)
and is commercially fully supported by Sumo Logic in production environments.

Starting with this release, we are using upstream [OpenTelemetry Collector][otc] version numbers
as the base for the OT Distro version numbers.
This means that Sumo Logic Distribution for OpenTelemetry Collector `v0.47.0-sumo-0` is based on `v0.47.0`
of the OpenTelemetry Collector [core][otc_v0_47_0] and [contrib][contrib_v0_47_0] packages.
