The Sustainable Urban Systems Lab, led by [Dr. Patrick Kastner](/team/) at Georgia Tech's [School of Architecture](https://arch.gatech.edu/) (SoA), focuses on developing innovative tools and methodologies to estimate performance indicators of buildings and cities.

Our mission is to empower urban decision-makers with software tools that place sustainability at the forefront of their profession. We contribute to the MS in Architecture [curriculum](https://arch.gatech.edu/master-science-architecture) at the SoA with a program concentration in High Performance Building.

The lab leads a [VIP][VIP] titled Surrogate Modeling for Urban Regeneration ([SMUR](https://vip-smur.github.io/)), which attracts a diverse group of students ranging from sophomore to graduate level, representing various engineering disciplines and other related fields across Georgia Tech.

Please feel free to reach out if you are interested in these topics or our work. Students at Georgia Tech and beyond, please find our [courses](/teaching/), [theses](/theses/), and [opportunities](/join/) on the following pages.
