--- name: scene-outline description: "Write the scene outline of a film on untitled.movie, every scene with its heading, what happens, its purpose and who is in it, following the lead treatment. Use when the author asks for a scene list, a step outline or a scene-by-scene breakdown before the pages are written." --- # Scene outline Every scene with its purpose, before the pages. ## Before you start Work in a session: unless one is open in this conversation, call `start_session` with the author's request as `trigger` and read the brief it returns. You propose, the author decides. ## Steps 1. Follow the lead treatment; the tracks in the brief say which document leads. Read it with `read_document`. 2. For each scene give: the heading (INT. or EXT., place, time), what happens, its purpose (what changes, which thread it moves), who is in it, and the sequence it belongs to. 3. Where you add, cut, merge or reorder scenes against the treatment, flag it as a proposal with your reason. Don't do it silently. 4. Mark holes. Use the character names of the name map exactly. 5. Write it as a document with `create_document`, kind `scene_outline`. End it with the scene count per sequence and the threads that go quiet for too long. 6. If the project has a roadmap: set the station `scene_outline` to in progress with `update_station` unless it already is, and add what you made with `add_outputs`. Leave marking it done to the author. 7. Tell the author where you departed from the treatment and what you need them to decide. If the author asks for something different from these steps, do what the author asks.
