William CAMPBELL (1822 - 1875)

William Campbell was born Dec. 19, 1822, in Nelson, Tioga Co., PA; d. there Dec. 13, 1875. Married Mar. 9, 1850 in Nelson, to Helen Elizabeth Peasly (sometimes show as 'Peasley'), b. Sep. 9, 1826, in NY; d. Feb. 6, 1876 in Nelson. Helen's parents were Ira Peaslee and Louisa (Lois) Sage, both born in NY.

William was the eldest of 12 children of Joseph Campbell, b. 1793 in N. Ireland or Scotland, d. 1864 in Nelson; and Ann Clinch, born 1804 in Gloucestershire, England, died 1872 in Nelson.

William and Helen Peasley Campbell had five children:

  1. Mary Lois Campbell, b. Dec. 2, 1851, in Nelson m. George Hackstaff Shipman;
  2. Kate Ardell Campbell, b. Dec. 2, 1851, in Farmington Twp., Tioga Co., PA m. Elisha "Lish" Shore Horton;
  3. Thomas Clinch Campbell, b. Mar. 25, 1856, in Farmington Twp., m. Campbell Cousin Frances "Frank" M. Parks;
  4. Jessie Ann Campbell, b. Oct. 15 1861 in Farmington Twp., m. William Arthur Ellison; and
  5. William Clayton Campbell, b. Jul. 3, 1864 in Nelson, m. Mary Louise Sizer.
