# dsh-resume-brief A [DeepSeek Harness](https://github.com/deepseek-ai/deepseek-harness) skill that asks for a one-page handover before continuing a project. ## Why The author aggregated their own DSH session counters locally (no chat text, no workspace names, no keys): - 136 sessions across 26 active days. - The heaviest sessions were project-resume / handover reads: 26–118 turns. - Active plans in 0/136 sessions; todos in 21/136. - 7 sessions exceeded 50% context pressure, peaking at 72.6%. - 12,233 output tokens per turn on average; 99.5% cache hit. The problem is not cache misses. It is re-discovery and rework when a long project is resumed: re-reading handovers, re-explaining state, and taking too many turns. This skill replaces that with a five-line brief. > Single-user observation, not a benchmark. No transcripts or workspace names > are included in this repository. ## What it does Before a cross-day, cross-session, or >10-turn continuation, the model writes: ```text project: updated: Goal: State: Next (max 3): Open decisions: Evidence: ``` Then it asks you to confirm. A fresh session reads `CHECKPOINT.md` from the current workspace instead of replaying the transcript. ## Install ```bash git clone https://github.com/Tinzlu/dsh-resume-brief.git ``` Add to your DSH profile's `cordis.patch.yml`: ```yaml - insert: - id: resume-brief name: '/absolute/path/to/dsh-resume-brief/lib/index.js' ``` Touch the patch to trigger HMR; restart DSH if the skill does not appear. Optional bundle install: ```bash dsh plugin --profile add github:Tinzlu/dsh-resume-brief ``` If the bundle is not mounted automatically, use the absolute-path patch above. No dependencies. ## Usage End a session: ```text checkpoint: use resume-brief, save the handover to CHECKPOINT.md in this workspace. ``` Start a new session: ```text Resume project: read CHECKPOINT.md in this workspace, use the resume-brief skill. Confirm first, then start; do not replay the old transcript. ``` Triggers: `resume project`, `handover`, `checkpoint`, `continue from last night`, `pick up where we left off`. Skip it for 1–2 turn tasks. ## File convention - Entry point: `CHECKPOINT.md` in the current workspace root, one per workspace. - History: `checkpoints/YYYY-MM-DD-HHMM-topic.md`. - Never write to a shared directory or another project's directory. - Cross-workspace references must use absolute paths. - Keep `project:` and `updated:` at the top; keep the body to five lines. ## Design principles 1. One page. If it does not fit, compress it; keep evidence as paths. 2. Current facts, not a plan. At most three next actions. 3. Confirm before editing. 4. Do not re-read long handovers; use headings, `git diff`, and `grep`. 5. Never put secrets in the brief. 6. Short tasks opt out. ## What it is not - Not an MCP server; no network, no runtime dependencies. - It does not compress context or switch models; it changes the handover. - It is a skill, not a hard gate. ## Development ```bash node --test ``` ## License MIT © 2026 Tinzlu
