Shapes

Click a shape to give it to the selected step (orange outline), or to every selected step: as its shape 2 while the Shape 2 page is showing, otherwise as its shape 1. The selected step's shape 1 has a solid outline and its shape 2 a dashed one. Click a step on the timeline, or a fader, to select it.

Presets

Presets live in this browser. Loading one sends it to the card if one is connected. The card itself keeps nothing over power-off.

8mu

The 8mu can plug into the module (no computer needed) or into this computer, which passes it on to the card. Its eight faders edit one bank of eight steps; its buttons are acted on when you let go, so how long you hold one decides what it does.

Short press	The page. Press the same button again for its next page, and round to the first again: A Shape 1 → Start B Shape 2 → End C Morph → Offset D Level → Quant → Chance Another button always starts on its first page.
Long press (½ s)	The bank the faders edit: A steps 1-8, B 9-16, C 17-24, D 25-32. The LED of fader 1-4 for that bank flashes three times.
Hold + move a fader	The last step: the button is the bank, the fader the step within it. Hold D and move fader 8 for 32 steps; hold A and move fader 4 for 4. Move it a good way (about a sixth of its travel) for it to count. The faders up to the last step light briefly, and nothing is edited.
Faders	Pick up: after a page or bank change a fader does nothing until it reaches (or passes) the stored value, so nothing jumps. While one is waiting, a grey line on its on-screen fader shows where it is.
LEDs	The stored values on the page, the playing step fully lit, steps past the end dark.
Tilt	Forward and back adds to every step's morph, past a dead zone of about 15° so holding it doesn't.

Sequencer

A step plays a shape: a morph between its Shape 1 and Shape 2 (40 shapes), times its Level, times a ramp from Start to End (each −100% to +100%: below the centre the shape turns upside down), plus its Offset (−5 to +5 V). Quant turns it into held stairs; Chance is the chance it plays each time round, and a step that doesn't holds the voltage where it was.

The sequence is steps 1 to its length (1-32), in four banks of eight. The timeline draws each step at full depth, 0 to 5 V between its outer lines, stretching to fit steps that go beyond; steps past the end are small grey boxes, the bank the faders edit has an orange box, a faint step has less than full chance, and the playhead runs backwards through a reversed step. Click a step to select it; Shift moves every step one place, wrapping round.

Switch up	Main scale, X depth (−100% to +100%), Y offset (−5 to +5 V)
Switch middle	Main rate (8 s to 10 ms a step), X smoothing (off, then 1 ms to 2 s), Y morph offset
Switch down	Hold and turn Main to choose one of eight directions; a tap without turning steps to the next
Knob pickup	After the switch moves, a knob does nothing until it reaches its setting's value; the setting's box above the sequence has a dotted outline until it does
Scale	Off just steps the shape; any other scale also snaps every step with Quant above zero to the scale's notes, last of all, so they stay in key. CV Out 2 always follows the scale
Clock	Pulse In 1: each step lasts one beat, for clocks up to a minute apart. A beat is the clock divided or multiplied by Main (switch middle): ÷8, ÷6, ÷4, ÷3, ÷2, ×1 (centre), ×2, ×3, ×4, ×6, ×8; CV In 2 moves it two steps a volt. Multiplied beats stay locked to the clock. Pulse In 2 restarts

How it connects

The card picks its USB mode at power-up. 8mu plugged into the card: the card reads it directly and this page isn't used. Computer plugged into the card: the card appears as a MIDI device called CVSeq, and an 8mu plugged into this computer is passed on by this page. After plugging a computer in, power-cycle the module.

Help

Use Chrome, Edge or another Chromium browser. Safari and iOS browsers can't do WebMIDI with SysEx.
Press Connect card & 8mu and allow MIDI with SysEx when the browser asks.
8mu buttons A-D choose the page; pressing one again moves on to its next page (D has three: Level, Quant, Chance), then back to its first. The tabs here do the same. Faders pick up: one does nothing until it reaches the stored value (the dashed line shows where the 8mu's fader is while it waits).
On-screen faders: drag, or focus one and use the arrow keys. Double-click resets one.
Direction: hold the module's switch down and turn Main to choose one of the eight directions (tap without turning to step to the next), or use the buttons here.
The module's knobs: switch up = Main scale, X depth, Y offset; middle = Main rate, X smoothing, Y morph offset.
Tilting an 8mu forwards and back adds to every step's morph, as it would on the card. The first 15 degrees or so either side of flat are ignored, so holding it doesn't nudge the morph.
Without a card the page still edits, previews and keeps presets; the playhead is then simulated at one step a second, full depth, no offset.
