# Tymeslot Trademark Policy

The source code of Tymeslot is free software under the [GNU AGPLv3](LICENSE). The **Tymeslot name and brand are not** — they are trademarks of Diletta Luna OÜ (Tallinn, Estonia), and this policy explains how you may and may not use them.

The two are deliberately separate. Open-source licences cover *code*; they say nothing about names and logos. AGPLv3 §7 explicitly preserves the right to keep trademark restrictions, and this policy is that right in writing. So while you are free to run, modify and redistribute the code, that freedom does not extend to the brand.

## What this covers

- The name **"Tymeslot"** (and confusingly similar variations).
- The Tymeslot **logo, wordmark and icon**, including the assets under [`priv/static/images/brand/`](priv/static/images/brand/).
- The overall visual identity — colours, typography and layout used to present Tymeslot as a product.

Collectively, "the Marks".

## What you may do without asking

- **Run and self-host** your own instance of Tymeslot under its real name. Nothing here restricts you using the software.
- **State the truth.** You may use the name to refer to the project accurately — "compatible with Tymeslot", "a plugin for Tymeslot", "we run Tymeslot", "forked from Tymeslot". This is nominative fair use: keep it factual, and don't imply we endorse, sponsor or supply you.
- **Link to us**, quote us, and use unaltered screenshots in articles, reviews and documentation.

## What you may not do without written permission

- **Rebrand a fork with our name.** If you distribute a modified version, you must give it your own name and your own logo. You may state that it is *derived from* or *based on* Tymeslot; you may not call the distribution itself "Tymeslot" or a name likely to be confused with it. (This is the WordPress / Firefox / GitLab model: the code is free, the brand is not.)
- **Run a service or business under the Marks** — a hosted offering, a paid "Tymeslot" product, or a company, domain or social handle that presents itself as Tymeslot or an official Tymeslot service.
- **Use the logo as your own**, or modify it, or use the Marks in a way that suggests affiliation, partnership or endorsement by Diletta Luna OÜ.
- **Register** the Marks, or anything confusingly similar, as a trademark, company name or domain.

## Why

Users need to trust that "Tymeslot" means the software we publish and stand behind. Forks and third-party services are welcome — that's the point of open source — but they must travel under their own name so nobody is misled about who built or operates what they are using. Protecting the name protects the users, not just us.

## Questions and permission

If you want to use the Marks in a way this policy doesn't clearly allow, ask — we're reasonable, and community and non-commercial uses are usually fine. Reach us via the [contact page](https://tymeslot.app/contact).
