# Privacy Policy — Teach Quran *Effective date: [INSERT DATE]* ## 1. Overview Teach Quran ("the App") is a Quran reading and learning app for students, parents, and teachers. This policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to the practices described here. ## 2. Information the App collects ### 2.1 Accounts (required) To use the App you create a username and password. The App uses the username to form an email-style identifier for your account (for example `username@teachquran.app`). This identifier is stored by our authentication provider (Google Firebase Authentication) and is used only to keep your data belonging to you. ### 2.2 Student data you create The App lets a parent or teacher create student profiles and record learning activity for each student. This data is stored in your account and synchronized to our cloud database (Google Firebase Firestore) so it is available on all your devices: - Student names you enter - Reading progress (last read position / reading mark) - Bookmarks - Notes (text notes and references to locally-recorded voice notes) - Highlights and drawings made on Quran pages - The student list and which student is currently selected ### 2.3 Voice notes Voice notes you record are saved as audio files **on your device only**. They are not uploaded to our servers or shared with anyone. ### 2.4 Information we do NOT collect The App does not collect or use: precise location, contacts, photos or media library, microphone recordings (except the voice notes in 2.3, which stay on your device), device advertising identifiers, or any third-party advertising. The App contains no ads. ## 3. How the App uses information - To authenticate you and keep your account secure - To store and synchronize your Quran reading progress, bookmarks, notes, highlights, and drawings across your devices - To display your student data back to you in the App - To provide support and fix technical issues ## 4. Sharing The App does not sell, rent, or trade personal information. Data is shared only with our infrastructure provider (Google Firebase) for storage and authentication, and with you when you export or share a page image from the App (the image you choose to share goes through the standard Android share sheet to the app you pick). ## 5. Data retention and deletion - You can delete a student profile at any time from the App's student list. - You can delete your account by contacting us (see section 9) — we will delete your account and the data tied to it. - Voice notes are deleted when you delete them in the App or uninstall the App. ## 6. Children's privacy The App is designed for Quran learning by students of all ages, including children under 13, under the supervision of a parent or teacher. A parent or teacher creates the child's student profile. We do not require children to provide personal information beyond what a parent or teacher enters on their behalf. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Google Play Families Policy. If you believe a child has provided personal information without parental consent, contact us and we will delete it. ## 7. Security Account data is protected by Google Firebase's authentication and transport security. Voice notes stay on your own device. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data. ## 8. Changes to this policy If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, where required by law, notify you through the App. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy. ## 9.
