# Memento — Support Memento is a personal second-memory iOS app. Capture voice, photos, and typed thoughts; ask natural-language questions later to find them again. Everything runs on your iPhone — no cloud, no account, no data leaves the device. ## System requirements - **iOS 26.0 or later** - **iPhone 15 Pro / iPhone 16 / iPhone 17 series** (or **iPad with M1 or newer**) for full Apple Intelligence features — smart tags, entity extraction, natural-language recall answers, reminder-time parsing. - Older iOS-26-eligible devices run in **Degraded Mode**: captures, search, transcripts, photo labels, and reminders still work; AI-generated tags and prose recall answers are replaced with Vision-label tags and memory-list results. ## Common questions ### The voice pill doesn't record when I hold it. 1. Open iOS Settings → **Memento** and confirm that **Microphone** and **Speech Recognition** are turned on. 2. Press and hold the pill for at least one second before releasing. Very short taps (under ~300 ms) are discarded on purpose to prevent accidental captures. 3. If you slid your finger upward while holding, you may have triggered the cancel gesture. Release with your finger still over the pill to save. ### A memory is stuck on "Transcribing…" Force-quit the app (swipe up from the bottom, swipe up on Memento) and relaunch. Memento sweeps any orphaned pending rows on launch and resolves them. If one specific memory is still stuck, long-press its card in the timeline and tap **Delete**. ### My AI tags and recall answers aren't showing up. 1. iOS Settings → **Apple Intelligence & Siri** → make sure Apple Intelligence is on and has finished downloading. 2. Open Memento's Settings (avatar well, top-right) and check the **AI status** row. "Available" means full mode. "Model downloading" means new captures will enrich once it finishes. "Running in Degraded Mode" means your device doesn't support Apple Intelligence and the app is using Vision-label fallbacks for tags. 3. Restart the device if you recently turned Apple Intelligence on — the on-device model sometimes finishes loading only after a reboot. ### Reminders aren't firing. 1. iOS Settings → **Memento** → **Notifications** must be allowed. 2. Memento parses reminder times from natural language — e.g., "remind me to buy cilantro tomorrow at 9 AM." If your phrasing is ambiguous (e.g., "soon," "later"), the app saves it as a plain memory without scheduling a notification. You can open the memory's detail view to see whether a reminder chip appeared. ### Photos look low-resolution in the timeline. The timeline uses a 480pt thumbnail for performance. Tap any photo card to open the detail view — pinch-to-zoom is enabled there and shows the full-resolution original. ### I need to clear everything. Memento Settings → **Clear all memories** deletes every memory, tag, entity, recall answer, audio file, photo, and thumbnail from your device. This cannot be undone and nothing is recoverable after. ### I want to export my data. Memento Settings → **Export all memories as JSON** writes a timestamped `memento-.json` file with every memory's metadata (transcript, text, OCR, tags, entities, reminder times). Tap the ochre share button that appears next to the row to send it via Files, AirDrop, Mail, or Messages. For individual audio files or photos, open a memory → tap the **share icon** (top-left of the detail sheet) — you'll get the raw `.m4a` or `.jpg` in an iOS share sheet. ### My data doesn't appear on my other device. Memento doesn't sync across devices. Memories stay on the one device that created them.
