# Commercial Licensing

mcp-memory-graph is **free for noncommercial use** under the
[PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0](./LICENSE). **Commercial use requires a
paid commercial license** from the copyright holder.

This file is informational. The binding terms are in [LICENSE](./LICENSE); a
commercial license is a separate agreement that replaces the noncommercial terms
for your organization.

## Free: noncommercial use

Per the license's safe harbors, no payment is required for:

- Personal projects, hobby use, private study, research, experimentation, and
  testing, without any anticipated commercial application.
- Use by a charitable organization, educational institution, public research
  organization, public-safety/health organization, environmental-protection
  organization, or government institution.

## Paid: commercial use

A commercial license is required for any use with anticipated commercial
application, including (non-exhaustive):

- Using it inside a for-profit company's products, services, or **internal
  tooling**.
- Offering it, or a product or service built on it, to customers, whether hosted
  (SaaS) or on-premises.
- Freelance or agency work where the result is delivered to a paying client.

If you are not sure which side of the line your use falls on, ask before you
deploy. It's cheaper than guessing.

## Get a commercial license

- Your company name and approximate size (people + revenue band).
- How you intend to use it (internal tool, embedded in a product, hosted
  service, and so on).
- Approximate number of users / deployments.

You'll get terms and pricing in return.

## Why this model

The project stays free for individuals, students, researchers, and nonprofits.
Companies that derive commercial value fund continued development and support.
Everything still runs **100% locally** in both tiers: no cloud dependency, no
telemetry, no per-token cost.
