# Mpv∞ Permission-Only Terms 1.0 Copyright (c) 2026 ZHINFINITY, for original material owned by ZHINFINITY. All rights reserved, subject to the exceptions below. These are custom, project-specific terms, not the PolyForm licence or an OSI-approved open-source licence. They apply to covered source versions at the effective boundary recorded in LICENSE-BOUNDARY.md and to the upcoming release containing them. They have not been approved by legal counsel. ## 1. Covered material and ownership "Covered Material" means all copyrightable project code, documentation, and other project material in the covered Mpv∞ source version and upcoming release identified under LICENSE-BOUNDARY.md that ZHINFINITY owns or has express authority from the relevant rights holders to offer under these exact terms. It includes owned or expressly authorized frame-interpolation code and feature updates carried forward unchanged from earlier snapshots, as well as additions and changes. Coverage is not limited to material newly written after a particular commit. An authorization is effective only within its actual scope; repository control, a copyright header, or permission to use a different licence does not establish ownership or authority to offer these terms. Third-party and upstream components, dependencies, bundled libraries, assets, and contributions owned by others remain under their applicable licences and notices. They are not included merely because they appear in this release or are combined with Covered Material. Any separate offer under these terms for another rights holder's project contribution requires documented express authority for that particular material and these terms; it does not remove that holder's original notices or independently applicable grants. Unresolved ownership or authority is not a basis for claiming coverage. In mixed files, these terms apply only to the portions ZHINFINITY owns or is expressly authorized to license this way, not automatically to the whole file. This is the licence offer for Covered Material in the covered source version and upcoming release, not a claim that previously licensed code becomes exclusively permission-only. Earlier grants, including grants for unchanged code carried into this release, remain available as explained in section 4. See THIRD_PARTY_SOURCE.md and LICENSE-BOUNDARY.md for the inventory and gaps. ## 2. App use is permitted; code reuse and republication require permission ### 2.1 Permission for everyone to use official app releases ZHINFINITY grants everyone a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to download, install, update, and run official, unmodified Mpv∞ app releases distributed by ZHINFINITY or an expressly authorized distributor, on devices they own or are authorized to use. This includes the copies reasonably necessary to install, operate, update, and back up the app for their own use. Ordinary app use is permitted for personal, educational, organizational, and commercial purposes. No individual permission request is required for these activities. These terms do not restrict media or data merely used with the app. This end-user permission is for using the app, not for reusing its source code, making derivative apps, sharing copies with others, rehosting APKs, or publishing the app or a modified version in an app store or elsewhere. Sharing a link to an official download is allowed; redistributing the app itself is not granted by this section. Sections 4 and 5 preserve independently applicable rights. ### 2.2 Prior written permission for code reuse and republication Except for section 2.1 and the rights preserved in sections 4 and 5, no licence is granted to copy, reproduce, modify, adapt, create derivative works from, reuse, redistribute, sublicense, sell, monetize, publish, upload, or otherwise make available any Covered Material, in whole or in part, in source or binary form. Each such activity requires prior written permission from ZHINFINITY. This requirement applies to commercial and noncommercial activities alike, including copying source code for private projects, reposting, app-store publication, advertising-supported distribution, and incorporation into another project. Public access, attribution, absence of a fee, or a failure to respond to a request is not permission. The app-use grant in section 2.1 does not grant general source-code reuse or republication rights. Any permission must expressly identify the material and authorized activities and their scope; section 2.1 itself provides that permission for ordinary app use. Section 5 acknowledges GitHub platform rights without a separate request. No permission grants rights outside its scope or rights owned by others. No separate patent, trademark, branding, or endorsement rights are granted by these terms beyond any rights necessarily implied by the express app-use grant. ## 3. Attribution and no false authorship Any use authorized under these terms must preserve applicable copyright, author, licence, and third-party notices, and identify modifications and their authors without presenting the original work as their own. You must not falsely claim to be the original creator or author of material created by others, or suggest that ZHINFINITY endorses your version without written authorization. Attribution does not replace the permission required by section 2. These conditions do not purport to impose new restrictions on previously licensed material or independently licensed third-party material. Ordinary app users do not need to publish a separate attribution statement; leaving the app's built-in notices intact satisfies this section for their use. ## 4. Earlier grants and third-party rights are preserved These terms do not withdraw, narrow, replace, or amend licences or permissions already granted for earlier snapshots or for material contained in them. Recipients may continue to exercise those rights subject to their original conditions, including rights in material carried forward unchanged into a new snapshot. Previously published AGPL-3.0-or-later and PolyForm Noncommercial versions retain their respective terms. The exact root licence of baseline commit 7015805f6831cbf8a9fc2e6d5dd5c70af209b638 is retained in HISTORICAL-LICENSE-POLYFORM-BASELINE.md; the prior AGPL text is retained in HISTORICAL-LICENSE-AGPL-3.0-or-later.txt. Historical copies are references, not new blanket grants for later Covered Material. Earlier grants are not limited to people who already made a fork or local copy. Anyone entitled to rely on an earlier licence may continue to do so, including where that licence permits obtaining copies from other recipients. A person exercising such rights must satisfy that licence, but need not obtain separate permission under these terms for acts it already permits. Conversely, an older licence does not automatically license later additions it never covered. All independently applicable third-party licences remain effective, including MIT, BSD, Apache, LGPL, MPL, PSF, and OFL terms. In particular, nothing here restricts modification, replacement, relinking, or reverse engineering for debugging modifications to LGPL-covered components where required by their licences, or any associated access to required source or relinkable material. These terms cannot substitute for compliance with those obligations. To the extent required by the applicable LGPL or other upstream licence, changes to covered upstream library files remain available under that licence, including ZHINFINITY-authored changes. Exercising those upstream licence rights does not require separate permission under these custom terms. ## 5. Law and hosting-platform rights Nothing here restricts rights that applicable law makes available independently of permission, including applicable copyright exceptions. Nothing here limits rights already granted under the terms of the hosting platform, including GitHub's rights to host the repository and its users' rights to view and fork a public repository through GitHub's functionality. GitHub's built-in public- repository viewing and forking, including a fork under a user's own GitHub account, are expressly acceptable to ZHINFINITY; no separate permission request is needed for those platform-authorized activities. This acknowledges platform rights, not a separate general source-reuse or publication licence. A public fork may itself be visible on GitHub; its existence is not permission to repackage or publish the code or app elsewhere. Those platform rights do not by themselves authorize external publication, APK rehosting, app-store release, or reuse outside their scope. Sections 2.1 and 4 and other independent rights continue to apply. These terms cannot technically prevent copying or infringement. ## 6. Permission requests No request is needed for the ordinary app use expressly allowed by section 2.1. No request is needed for GitHub viewing/forking within section 5 or for an activity authorized by the preserved rights in sections 4 and 5. For activities requiring separate permission under section 2.2, follow this request process: Contact the repository owner, ZHINFINITY, through the contact channels listed at https://github.com/ZHINFINITY. Identify the exact source revision or files, your intended activities, how and where you will distribute them, and whether you intend commercial use or monetization. Do not include private information in a public issue. Wait for an express written grant before proceeding. ## 7. No warranty or liability To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Covered Material is provided "AS IS", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement. To that extent, the rights holder is not liable for claims, damages, or other liability arising from the Covered Material or its use. Nothing excludes liability or other rights that applicable law does not permit to be excluded.
