# Privacy Policy — AINS Book Log Assistant

This extension is a personal tool for filling in book records on the AInS NILAM system
(`ains.moe.gov.my`) faster. It does not have a backend server, and the developer does not
collect, receive, or store any of your data.

## What the extension accesses

- **The AInS add-book page** (`ains.moe.gov.my/record/add/book`): the extension reads and
  fills form fields on this page only. It never submits the form or advances the page for
  you — you always review and click Seterusnya/submit yourself.
- **Book title/author you type**, and book metadata from Google Books / Open Library
  (public, unauthenticated APIs) used to help fill in fields like publisher, page count, and
  language.
- **Your Gemini API key**, which you provide yourself in the extension's options page.

## Where your data goes

- Your Gemini API key is stored only in your browser's local extension storage
  (`chrome.storage.local`), on your own device. It is never sent anywhere except directly to
  Google's Generative Language API when you use the AI drafting feature — using your own key,
  billed to your own Google AI Studio account.
- Book title/author/metadata you enter is sent directly from your browser to Google Books,
  Open Library, and the Gemini API to look up and draft fields. It is not sent to the
  developer or any server the developer controls.
- If you set an optional panel password, only its hash is stored locally on your device; the
  password itself is never transmitted anywhere.

## What the extension does not do

- No analytics, tracking, or advertising.
- No data is collected by or transmitted to the developer.
- No data is shared with any third party other than the APIs listed above, which you invoke
  directly using your own credentials.
