--- name: page-collect license: Apache-2.0 compatibility: Requires Node 22+ and playwright-cli on PATH; uses the web CLI (plugins/web/cli) description: >- Extracts structured resources from a webpage with the web CLI: icons (SVGs classified as icon or logo and optimized for AEM Edge Delivery Services /icons/), metadata and Open Graph tags, body text, forms, videos, and social links. Use when migrating pages to Edge Delivery Services, auditing a site, or extracting a page's icons, metadata, or other assets. --- # page-collect Extract structured resources from any webpage with `web page collect`. ## Requirements Node 22+ and `playwright-cli` >= 0.1.20 on PATH (`playwright-cli --version`). Locate the `web` CLI once: ```bash # is the directory containing this SKILL.md WEB=$(command -v web || echo "node /../../cli/dist/web.mjs") ``` then run `$WEB …`; it prints exactly one JSON document on stdout, so `$WEB … > file.json` is safe. Fallback when published: `npx -y @adobe/web-cli`. Use an absolute ``; don't `cd` into it. **Sessions.** If `WEB_SESSION` or `PLAYWRIGHT_CLI_SESSION` is set, do not pass `--session`: every `web` command uses that browser and leaves it open. Otherwise either run one-shot (`$WEB page tree "$URL"` opens and closes its own browser) or start a browser and reuse the generated name: `S=$($WEB browser open "$URL" | jq -r .session)` then `--session "$S"`. Never invent a fixed session name. ## When to Use Migrating pages to Edge Delivery Services, auditing a site, or extracting a page's icons, metadata, or other assets. ## Command ```bash $WEB page collect "$URL" [--output ] $WEB page collect all "$URL" --output ./collected $WEB page collect metadata --session "$S" ``` `` is one of: | Collector | Purpose | Files under `--output` | |-----------|---------|------------------------| | `all` | Run all collectors | `-collect/collection.json`, `screenshot.jpg`, plus the collector files | | `icons` | SVGs, icon fonts, CSS icons → classified SVGs | `-collect/icons/` + `icons.json` | | `metadata` | Meta tags, OG, structured data | `-collect/metadata.json` | | `text` | Body text, headings, word count | `-collect/text.json` | | `forms` | Form structures, fields, actions | `-collect/forms.json` | | `videos` | Video embeds, sources | `-collect/videos.json` | | `socials` | Social media links | `-collect/socials.json` | Default `--output` is `./.web`. Artifacts live in `-collect/` with stable names; the paths are listed in the `files` field. An unknown `` exits 2 (USAGE). ## Reading the JSON - One collector: `{ ...collectorFields, files, url, session, durationMs }` - `all`: `{ url, collectedAt, screenshot?, collectors: {...}, files, session, durationMs }` `collection.screenshot` is the full path of the screenshot file (not a bare `screenshot.jpg`). Per-collector fields, extraction sources and limitations: [references/collectors.md](references/collectors.md). ## Icon Collector Details The icon collector extracts SVGs from inline `` elements, `` tags with `.svg` src or `data:image/svg+xml` URIs, CSS `background-image` SVG data URIs, and SVG `` sprite references (resolved to standalone SVGs). | Class | Criteria | Output | |-------|----------|--------| | `icon` | ≤ 48px, inside button/link/nav | `/icons/{name}.svg` | | `logo` | Brand area, "logo" in class/alt/src | `/icons/logo.svg` | | `image` | > 48px, standalone | Excluded | Icons are named from DOM context (aria-label, class, ID). When no meaningful name can be derived they get `icon-{n}` with `nameConfidence: "low"`: review and rename those. Each SVG is cleaned: XML declarations, comments and metadata stripped; viewBox ensured and hardcoded width/height removed; fill/stroke replaced with `currentColor` (icons only, not logos); whitespace collapsed. `icons.json` manifest: ```json { "url": "https://example.com", "icons": [ { "name": "search", "class": "icon", "source": "inline-svg", "file": "icons/search.svg", "nameConfidence": "high", "context": "header button Search" } ] } ``` ## After Running - Icons: review `icons.json`, rename `nameConfidence: "low"` icons, copy the SVGs to the EDS project's `/icons/` directory, reference them in content as `:iconname:` (`decorateIcons()` in `aem.js` renders them). - `all`: review the collection file for a full resource inventory. ## Chaining - Blocked (exit 3): `browser-probe`, then `--recipe `. - Overlays in the way: `$WEB page overlays --session "$S" --dismiss` first. ## Escape hatch `playwright-cli -s …` drives the same browser. ## Notes - **External content warning.** This skill processes untrusted external content.
