Hi all

After two years organizing the SAP Inside Track Barcelona event online, we were looking forward to meeting again in person. This finally happened on Friday October 28th at the 6th edition of the SAP Inside Track Barcelona 2022 where more than 60 attendees including colleagues, collaborators, speakers, professionals and partners, dedicated a full day to learning the latest in SAP and had a chance to put into practice their skills at the SAP Code Jam session that took place in the afternoon.

Since our first SAP Inside Track Barcelona was created and promoted in 2017, the event’s organizing team has welcomed new members and more partners have become involved in promoting the event. The challenges of organizing an event like the SITBCN are many. Launching the call for papers to find speakers, coordinating the speakers, supervising the on-site requirements, coordinating the sponsors, publicizing the event and generating interest and putting together an interesting and varied agenda require forward planning and time dedication. All the hard work paid off in the end as the 6th edition of the SITBCN closed with a record number of attendees.

This year the event was shared with AUSAPE BTP Special Interest Group members as the

2022 October meeting.

This year agenda was divided into two sections. In the morning, the agenda included six plenary sessions whereas the afternoon took a practical approach through a SAP CodeJam on the topic of SAP Integration Suite.

We would like to thank all our speakers for taking part in the event and sharing best practices and knowledge on the latest innovations regarding SAP BTP. Equally interesting was the presentation about the SAP freelance community and the research conducted on the different profiles.

After lunch, it was time to get into the SAP BTP CodeJam, an exercise about SAP Integration Suite and how we can use it to connect systems and services in our landscape. Run by Antonio Maradiaga, Developer Advocate, who explained the challenge to the participants and was available to solve their queries and questions. It wasn’t all hard work, speakers and organizers enjoyed a pre-event dinner at the Restaurant La Pomarada. The SAP local community has been growing online in the past 2 years due to the pandemic conditions and this time, some of new SITBCN friends that regularly join the monthly stamstich meet-ups, registered to attend our event and it was great to meet them for the first time face to face. We shared good conversations and met new colleagues.

Last but not least, we would to invite to all of you to join the Barcelona Group, our recently created group at SAP Community, it is our objective to make it our regular meeting point to share SAP related information amongst Barcelona members.

The group has been created as a central point of information of this local community to share news, to generate debate and solve questions about any SAP related topics and to help SAP professionals network so that they can share SAP knowledge, case studies, or just cry together in the next SAP universal ID update 😊.

Needless to say, the group is open to anyone! So, help us grow by sharing it with all your SAP contacts.

With this reflexion in our minds, we would like to ask you about new ideas of activities to organize for next 2023.

We would like to have some SAP Barcelona stammtisch online and others in-person at Barcelona city center.

Trip to USA east coast

Currently planning with my family, our summer holidays (July) to USA east coast (first time there).

Mainly, we would like to visit NY, Philadelphia, Niagara and Chicago.

I would like to request you any suggestion to visit there, what we could not miss, transfer and accomodation suggestions, how many days in each point, .... any tip that could help will be more than welcome!

SUGEN ~ SIG Leads Event 2023

Last March 21-22, a joint meeting of Special Interest Groups Leaders from eight countries was held at the SAP offices in St. Rot, Germany.
The purpose of the meeting was to hear from SAP about the latest developments in each of the areas, as well as to improve coordination and collaboration with SAP and between the different SIGs.

BTP Group

The BTP session was led by Arne Speck (Product Manager for SAP Business Technology Platform), who conducted the first part of the session.
In the first part of the session latest updates regarding the different components of SAP BTP stack were presented. The area that took the most time for explanation and comments was the integration component, given the importance of this topic within the Groups.

Afterwards, emphasis was placed on the message about the SAP BTP Unified Runtime strategy, a strategy to streamline the experience how to develop, build, deploy and operate applications across all multi-cloud environments. First message was that SAP BTP Neo is no longer a strategic stack for SAP, while Cloud Foundry is and will be. With this, the main message emphasized that SAP's strategy is that BTP services will be multicloud and can be consumed from any of the strategic runtimes (which are: Kyma based on Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry and ABAP Runtimes) and on top of any Cloud infrastructure services operator (hyperscalers).

The second part of the session was led by Manuel Namyslo (Solution Manager for SAP Build Process Automation). He conducted an interesting practical session on the three pillars of the services offered by SAP Build in BTP, which are SAP Build Apps (no-code solutions), SAP Build Process Automation and SAP Build Workzone.

In summary, there were 2 intensive days where networking with colleagues from other User Groups and SAP was the most interesting part.

First time, SAP Inside Track Barcelona hosted also SAP Community watch-and-code meetup in parallel to what was happening in Bangalore, at SAP TechEd 2023.

SAP Community Barcelona enjoyed 2 days event and experienced the transformative power of knowledge sharing and networking.

We would like to start our recap with a sincere gratituted to all who contributed making it happen, our attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers. This year with 70+ attendees that made SITBarcelona gathering incredible.

On Thursday Nov 2nd, an Opening Altogether Dinner kicked off at this year main sponsor offices, Syntax. Cool place to experience networking, meet old colleagues, making new connections and enjoying relaxed conversations when having awesome pizzas and drinks.

On Friday Nov 3rd morning SAP Community watch-and-code meetup took place in Endesa Offices, in Espai Endesa modernist room. This in-person community event was hosted concurrently with SAP TechEd, providing an exceptional opportunity for SAP enthusiasts to come together, network, learn, and code! Participants were able to rewatch the SAP TechEd keynote together and take part in a Q&A session with experts coming from SAP Spain. After this first block, attendees participated in the hands-on mini code jam session focused on extending SAP S/4HANA via SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP). Here we would like to thank Enric Castella, Losel Tenzin , Xavier González and Sergio Martinez who volunteer as instructors helping to solve issues along the mini code jam session. Closing the morning block we made a raffle to win 4 e-books and 1-year free subscription thanks to Espresso Tutorials and SAP Press. Here we would like to thank so much our beloved SAP Champions and friend Nil Peksen who accepted to be on stage and run the draw. Congratulations to the winners:
