BW on HANA Pushdown Formula Exception Aggregation

Hi,

I do not understand why a formula in my query is not executed in HANA DB. We are on BW750/25 on HANA. I use this formula:

IF("[ZPLPRODTM] Planned Production Time" > "[0ACTEXECTMX] Production time (1000; Sensor T+Z; PP01)"; "[0ACTEXECTMX] Production time (1000; Sensor T+Z; PP01)"; 0)

with exception Aggregation SUM using on reference characteristic:

When I run the query via RSRT (Query property: Operations in SAP HANA/BWA = 7 (Formulas calculated in SAP HANA ) ) the formula is executed in ABAP, not HANA.

Any ideas why there is no PushDown? Query is based on a Composite Provider using aDSOs.

star join with two fact tables

Hi ,

I have 2 fact tables and want to join them in star schema (star join). Do I have to join/ union them at first before adding them to the star join node? Is there other option to add them to star join node at once, as I find it inconvenient and ridiculous to join or union two different fact tables.

Query output to CSV file in SAP BW 7.5

Hi Folks,

we have a requirement to generate a CSV file using Bex query based on Multiprovider which has yearly cubes .

what is the best approach from the following .?

1.) Multiprovider --> Bex Query (Current year To Date data filter) -- > ADSO -- > APD --> CSV File in target location

2.) Bex Query (Current year To Date data filter) -- > APD --> CSV File in target location

we dont need any filters in APD since data is restricted in Query Level.

Also we have to keep all characteristics in rows right ? otherwise they wont appear in CSV file when we run APD. Pelase clarify.

SAP HANA Redundancy

There are bunch of HANA Views which are almost similar as per the business. The ask in hand is to optimize or reduce the HANA View in the present system. I am relatively new to the eco system. I am trying my best to consider the criteria for consolidation. The idea is to retire the redundant HANA views. Tools at my disposal is HANA Studio

Evaluation Criteria :

Complexity of calculation logic, Determine any dependent object modification as a result of consolidation, Dependent Objects, Data Volume and Performance, Data Model Alignment.

Where can i look out in the catalog table to mine the model details, i don't want to do manual mining but try to fetch from catalog table in System schema. Is there a better way to approach. Kindly guide.

Fiori list report not showing default date values

We have created a list report but it's not showing the default date values, but when I run the same CDS view using RSRT it's correctly displaying the date values for last week but our question why the Fiori elements list report not showing it. Please see below screenshots and the CDS view code and advise.

SAP variables technical names got updated automatically for OLAP query in MII

In SAP MII we are using some OLAP queries to extract data from BI cubes. In the OLAP query some parameters are passed as SAP variables from MII, in these variables a few are standard SAP names and are shown the same name in BI BEx query and MII OLAP query template. The issue is that some of these variables are custom made for MII and the name shown in MII OLAP query template is different than shown in BI side (Ex: in pattern MII-- [!V000012]) but in BI it has some other defined name. When some unrelated change happened and BI cube got updated the said SAP variable names shown for MII got changed automatically, because of the last two digits are changing. But other standard variables are not changing. Now I wanted to understand how these naming is generated for SAP MII OLAP templates, how it is getting changed.

We used to get mdms where we need to maintain hierarchy manually like if we have company code ch00 and line business is l1,l2,…..l20. We need to maintain in each node like l1 node we have to insert ch00l1. here my question is how to automate it?

Display field as filter but hide as dimension in Analytical Query

Hi,

We are building custom analytical query and we have a requirement to show a field as filter in the prompt but hide the field as dimension. Below is a sample scenario where custom analytical query is built on I_GLAccountLineItemCube.

'AccountingDocument' is where this requirement should be applied. Now I've tried with three different annotations, but none of them seems to fulfil the requirement:

As yo can see in the screenshots(tcode RSRT), either field appears both as filter and as dimension, or neither of them. Is it possible to show the field as filter in the prompt but hide the field as dimension?

I need a help in BEx Query Boolean operator syntax.

My requirement as below

Condition 1

Quot. qty = 100

Sales. Qty = 100

Invoice. Qty = 100.

If above all values equal, then I want to display the STATUS as "Completed or 1"

Condition 2

Quot. Qty = 0 or "NA"

Sales. Qty = 100

Invoice. Qty = 100.

then I want to display the STATUS as "Completed or 1"

Condition 3

Quot. qty = 100

Sales. Qty = 90

Invoice. Qty = 80.

Then I want to display the status as " Not Completed or 0"

Condition 4

Issue with Range Partition (/B/FKO)

Dear SAP Team,

We have recently received an alert for the table SAPB***./B**/FKO** , specifically Partition 4, in our BPC Production system (***). Upon investigation, we found that the Range partition was executed on the key "KEY_KOII***" with the following ranges: 0, 1, 2, and others (*). However, only data for range 0 is present while ranges 1 and 2 are missing.

Table Name: /B**/FKO**

It seems that the data has been recorded under partition ID 4 (i.e., *). Looks like the partitioning was not performed correctly (in DIGITS), and the ranges were not properly assigned during the process.

Could you please provide a solution to resolve this partitioning issue? Is there an alternative solution that can be performed online without requiring an outage? Please let us know if you need any additional information. I've attached screenshots of the table for reference.

Data is not equally distributed in all the partitions

The table data is not equally distributed in all the partitions in BW scale out system. We tried to perform Optimize table partitioning, but the table SAP***./BIC/F*** is not being selected in generated plan. We did optimize table distribution but this doesn't helped.

When I move to Quality system from Dev my BW Query OData service, it is moved "proforma".

Hello to all of you. The problem is as follows:

I develop OData service with all the artifacts based on Query. The tests are ok, and when I move to Quality system I see that in the service persists in /iwfnd/maint_service but the REG_SERVICE and REG_MODEL tables doesnt have the corresponding records. The service and its belonging model are missing.
For example the Model (XXXX_MDL) is available in table /IWBEP/I_MGW_OHT in the development system, but when moved it is missing in quality. When I execute the service in /iwfnd/gw_client, I got status code Error 500 - No service found for namespace /SAP/.....

Executing OData over BW Query pass back an error 400 for a non mandatory variable

Hello to all of you!

When I am executing an OData service exposing BW Query I include all the variables - the non-mandatory I leave empty like X_0Material='', but about the mandatory one I pass a parameter like X_0Fiscper='001.2025'. Unfortunately for Calday's variable, which is optional it returns error - status code 400 and more precisely "Invalid key predicate type . Expected type is 'Edm.DateTime' ".
I tried with /Date('') and all the variances but it doesn't recognize it.

Every assistance is appreciated.

i have new development requirement. there is an existed flow as DS --DSO1-DSO2-INFOCUBE in sap bw i have to add new field to INFOCUBE directly (no mapping in transoformation level)and which should get data from some other dso say DSO3 with lookup method(ex say: 0DOC_DATE ) using matching key fields and apply and move these changes to development to quality please explain me the step by step approach with example if possible

BW Query statistics not available for CDS-based Queries on transient providers in S/4 HANA system

Hi,

I have built BW Queries on top of CDS Views exposed as transient providers in the S/4HANA system. However, I am unable to find the statistics for these queries.

I have enabled statistics by setting it to 'ON' in Transaction RSDDSTAT, but the data is still not being captured in the underlying table RSDDSTAT_OLAP.

Could you please help me with how to capture statistics for BW Queries in S/4HANA?

how to enable custom fields hierarchies in Analysis For Office

Hi all,

In Group Reporting we have several custom fields created from app "Custom Fields and Logic" ,that are already visible in AO reports. The issue is that I have created their hierarchies from app Manage Global Hierarchies and I would expect them to be displayed in the Analysis For Office report used in SAP S4/HANA Group Reporting 2022 OP, the same way I see the hierarchies for the FS Items but that is not the case.

It seems that it is not possible from app "Custom Analytical Queries" to modify by copy the group reporting standard query in order to activate these custom fields hierarchies.

Could anyone suggest any valid workaround or support in understanding how to handle this and finally get to have the created custom fields' hierarchies displayed?

Power BI using SAP BW Application Server

Hello,

I’m looking for some hands-on experiences and advice regarding connecting Power BI to SAP BW/4HANA using the SAP BW Application Server connector.

I have tested both Direct Query and Import options, but the performance is extremely poor:

Expanding the data model takes ~7 minutes
Selecting the query adds another ~8 minutes
Only after entering prompts, it takes an additional ~1 minute before I can even start building the report

This makes the development workflow almost unusable.

My questions are:

Is this normal behaviour when using Power BI with SAP BW/4HANA via Application Server connectivity?
Could this be related to configuration settings on the BW side or Power BI side? I’m testing a connection between Power BI Desktop and SAP BW/4HANA which is on cloud.
Have you found better performance with Direct Query vs. Import?

I’d really appreciate any real-world experiences or best practices to understand whether this is a configuration issue on our side or simply a limitation of the connector.
