BW/4 Inplace Conversion - Precheck warning - Query with SAP-Exit Variable - adjustment needed or not

Hello everyone,

we are currently performing the pre-checks for a BW/4HANA inplace conversion. During this process, a large number of queries are listed that use the SAP-Exit function modules of certain variables e.g. 0S_RQMRC or 0PVAEX.

We know that 0PVAEX has a new BW/4 variable and needs to be adjusted and 0S_RQMRC is obsolete a long time ago..

The question is: Do we need to adjust these manually before switching to the B4H mode (as it is listed in the pre-.check) as the switch will be "blocked" otherwise or can we switch to the B4H mode and even convert system completely to BW/4 (assuming that the queries will no longer run if not adjusted - but adjustment then is possible in BW/4).

Thanks for clarifying. The SAP notes are not clear on that part (at least not for me).

data source /US4G/0UC_MEMIDOC in S/4HANA for utilities

hi guys,

any experience with datasource /US4G/0UC_MEMIDOC in S/4HANA? It is activated from content, properly switched to ODP and delivers results in the source system via transaction RSA3. However, it can not be replicated in BW/4HANA, i.e., it appears not in the replication list.

Any idea how to replicate it?

CDS view based CDC enabled Extractor is not working on ANLC

Hi Team,

In order to build a CDC enabled CDS View-based Data Extractor for ANLC table we have tried the following approaches but failed.
Is there any way available to build this, please guide?
Also, why there is such restrictions in place for enabling delta extractions?

Building the CDS view on ANLC Table. It does not work. The data extraction/data pre-view also does not work. We checked few blogs and tried our luck on the view faav_anlc.
Building the CDS view on faav_anlc view. The data extraction works only in full mode. The delta mode of extraction does not work with "delta.changeDataCapture.automatic : true". So, we tried with manually defining the elements.
Building the CDS view by manually defining the delta elements. Using this the delta extraction fails because the view - faav_anlc has AMDP table functions and CDC does not support that.

Range Partitioning for BW Table

BW/4HANA connection to SuccessFactors using Compoundemployee soap API instead Odata API

Hello Team,

W want use Compoundemployee soap API instead Odata API instead of SF Odata API to connect BW/4HANA to SuccessFactors using the DP agent.

the reason is : OdataAdapter required for SF Odata API is not supported any more to run on the DP agent and it has to run in DP server in SAP HANA Database. meantime the direct connection from SAP HANA DB to SF is not allowed and it has to be through DP agent installed in a separate machine.

the DP agent , we can use SoapAdapter and use Compoundemployee Soap API instead to extract data from SF to BW/4HANA.

Appreciate your confirmation if we can use Soap API instead of OData API please to connect BW/4HANA to SuccessFactors through SAP Data Provisioning Agent

Probleme SU01 Berechtigungen

Hallo zusammen,

folgende Situation:

Die Techniker in meinem Team sollen die SU01 nutzen können. Sie sollen dabei 03 Aktivität haben und in bestimmten Fällen, z. B. für die Erstellung eines RFC Users, dürfen sie die 02 Aktivität haben.

Nun habe ich zum Test eine Rolle erstellt, die im Menü nur die Transaktion SU01 hat. Die dabei generierten Berechtigungen habe ich zum Testen erstmal alle auf Aktivität 03 gesetzt und bestimmte Berechtigungen wie z. B. für HR gelöscht/deaktiviert. Außerdem habe ich in der Berechtigung S_USER_GRP ausschließlich die User Gruppe für RFC User hinzugefügt.

Als ich die Rolle testen wollte, hatte ich dennoch vollen Zugriff auf die SU01 und konnte auch jede andere Usergruppe bearbeiten. Die Transaktion SU01 zeigt mir innerhalb der Transaktion in einer Message-Box eine rote Error-Meldung an, dass mir die nötigen Berechtigungen fehlen, um Änderungen durchzuführen, jedoch kann ich es trotzdem machen.

Bisherige Tests:

– Ich habe meinem User alle Rollen nehmen lassen und nur diese Rolle für SU01 hinzufügen lassen. Ergebnis bleibt, dass ich bearbeiten kann.

– Mein User hat kein extra Profil oder SAP_ALL etc., nur das Profil, welches aus der Rolle für SU01 generiert wird.

-In der SU53 werden mir auch, korrekt, meine fehlenden Aktivität wie die 02 in der Berechtigung S_USER_GRP angezeigt. Wie oben beschrieben kann ich dennoch bearbeiten.

-In der SUIM habe ich über die komplexe Berechtigungsobjektsuche die Berechtigung S_USER_GRP mit der Aktivität 02 gesucht und das System hat mir die Rolle angezeigt, die ich erstellt habe und die ausschließlich die Aktivität 03 hat.

Technische Details: Mein System ist ein BW System mit der Installierten Version SAP BW/4HANA 2021 SP/FP 08 03/2024

SAP BW Document Store // "Show document" does not work

I was testing the document store feature in BW/4HANA, but when we updated our system to BW/4 2023 SPS6, the "show document" feature (see link below for SAP documentation) stopped working, and started returning a "MIME Type not supported" Error as shown in the picture below. Have anybody else experienced similar issues? If so, how did you fix this?

CDS view I_EQUIPMENTDATA for BW extraction: Why shouldn't it be enhanced?

Dear all,

I have read topic Enhance Abap CDS View I_EquipmentData. It is mentioned, that the CDS view I_EQUIPMENTDATA should not be enhanced. But I cannot find this information here: Virtual Data Model and CDS Views - Equipment Data.
It is just mentioned "This CDS view is modeled for usage as a DataSource in Business Warehouse. We recommend that you only use it for this purpose.".

Why shouldn't it be enhanced? We currently use it with "extend view I_EquipmentData with Z_E_I_EQUIPMENTDATA" and it works without problems for extracting data to our BW system..

hello All!

Could anyone assist me? I’m creating a CompositeProvider in Eclipse for BW/4HANA modeling. I need to filter records for Transfer Postings, so I applied the MASSN code Z7 in PA0000 to extract all transfer-posting cases. To retrieve the latest updated information, I’m joining these PERNRs with PA0001, applying the filter ENDDA = 31.12.9999, so I can get the corresponding PERSK and PERSG values for the most current records.

Since the PA0001 data is available through the standard InfoObject 0EMPLOYEE_ATTR, I use that to retrieve PERSG and PERSK. However, for PA0000, I created a custom DataSource with code to extract the required MASSN-based records.

Here is the rephrased version in a clear and professional way:

I mapped the start date (BEGDA) field to the standard InfoObject 0VALIDFROM.
When I run the InfoObject independently, it works fine and returns accurate results.
However, when I combine it with 0EMPLOYEE_ATTR, the output becomes incorrect for the condition ENDDA = 31.12.9999.

Whether I use a left outer join or an inner join, the issue remains the same:

PA0000 gives 199 records (MASSN = Z7)
PA0001 / 0EMPLOYEE_ATTR gives 153 updated records
But in the CompositeProvider, it still shows 199 records instead of 153, even though 0EMPLOYEE_ATTR should return only the updated records.

I am not sure why this mismatch is happening, since 0EMPLOYEE_ATTR is supposed to provide only the latest active record with ENDDA = 31.12.9999.

Dynamic table name in Select * From (Table_name)

Hi all,

I've created on Global Class in SE24, in which I've created the methods as per my requirements, for now I've made it statically that when I call the method it will fetch the corresponding data given in Select statment.

But I want to make it dynamic that while calling that method I can pass the table name as parameter and it will fetch the records for that corresponding table. So, is it possible to do it this way or there is any other way around that im missing?

How to prevent BW/4HANA process chains from running when EDP pipeline fails?

Hi Experts,

We have an external data processing (EDP) pipeline that feeds data into BW/4HANA. Currently, BW process chains run on a schedule, but we need to ensure that if the EDP pipeline fails, BW loads do not start.

What is the best approach to implement this dependency?

Should we use a control table or event-based triggering?
How can EDP communicate its success/failure status to BW/4HANA?
Any recommended best practices or SAP-supported patterns for this scenario?

Our goal is to avoid partial or incorrect loads in BW when upstream data is incomplete.

Error in OData call made with self sign certificate

Hello All,

We want to establish a connection between a Python and SAP through OData call. For this, we are using a self signed X.509 certificate which we generated using OpenSSL.

when we make a Odata call [which is based on a BW query], we are getting a 404 error with description : Please select a valid URL. If it is a valid URL, check whether service /sap/opu/odata/sap/<service_name>/$metadata is active in transaction SICF.

we have set the odata Logon detail to SSL Certificate.

could you tell where we could be going wrong and how we can fix it?

Function Module Based Generic Extractor

I've one FM Based extractor and Its running okie but there is one extra package coming, and because of that the first package is not coming in final output.

for example, I'm extracting 10 packages, each package is containing 100 records and function module is extracting 11 packages,

so the initial package 0-100 records are missing and in last package instead of getting 900-1000 recordd im getting 11th package which contains 1000-1100.

and I guess the problem is in closing the coursor, can anyone help me on this one, when done hard code like suppose ive one variable "lv_datapackage"( value is fetched from memory ) which will itrate from 1 to 10 and once its ten it will close the cursor, but as i said its "HARDCODE" I want to make it dynamic.

I was just wondering how to consume an XXL info object, a lengthy text more than 1333 characters. I tried assigning it as XXL attribute in hope of using it, but it didn't even appear as selection in the BW query or AO. If anyone is able to make use of this type of info object in the reporting side, please share. I have gone through a few threads, but just wanted to make sure there is really no way.

SAP BPC Lite Optimize and Housekeeping

Hello,

We recently experienced an issue after our upgrade to BW/4HANA 2021. During data loading into a BPC standard ADSO, the system started showing the warning:“Error requests in ADSO exceed 20000, housekeeping job needed.”

To address this, we created a process chain and transformation package to run Lite Optimize and Housekeeping. However, we had to abort the process. Later, one of our BW consultants manually executed housekeeping successfully.

After that, we attempted to automate the housekeeping process inside a package.
We also implemented the SAP Notes listed under 3012005 – Housekeeping: Collection Note (only the "can be implemented" notes).

When we executed the package including housekeeping, the package finished successfully, but 5 requests in the ADSO moved into ERROR status (red).

At this point: We don’t know how to handle or repair these error requests. We also don’t know the correct procedure to manage ongoing housekeeping in BPC/BW4HANA, especially since the number of requests is increasing and could impact system performance.

If anyone has experience with BPC standard ADSO housekeeping in BW/4HANA specially regarding error requests after housekeepingyour guidance would be greatly appreciated.
