BW4HANA: How to hide a measure in a query depending on which node of the hierarchy we are in.

I'm sharing a situation we're facing that we can't find a solution to. Any help is welcome.

Problem:

We have the Customer dimension, which includes several measures, among them, Measure X. In SAC, a table is displayed with this Customer dimension, along with Measure X and others ones. This table has a specific hierarchy created in BW with multiple levels. All the measures in this table originate at the leaf level and are then summarized at different nodes levels within the hierarchy. Due to a specific business requirement, it's necessary to hide the Measure X for certain lower levels of the hierarchy, without affecting the values of their parent nodes. Additionally, we have the constraint of not being able to use a separate hierarchy or table as per the client's request. All of this needs to coexist alongside other measures, within the same hierarchy, and using the same dimension without altering anything beyond what is necessary. This change must necessarily be made on the BW/Query side, as making it within the SAC story wouldn't be useful for us.

Objective:

To modify the behavior of Measure X for the Customer dimension, specifically for a certain hierarchy. It's necessary to hide Measure X from view at lower levels of the hierarchy without using a new table, another dimension, or a different hierarchy from the one currently used.

P.S. The level 4 would refer to the leaf level of the hierarchy.

Solutions attempted:

BW Query Designer: An attempt was made to implement logic where each node could be enumerated according to its level, and from there, restrict Measure X at the necessary levels (levels 3 and 4). In this case, as direct access to the hierarchy and its nodes wasn't possible, some nodes could not be categorized correctly due to the structure of the hierarchy and a few other issues (e.g., some level 4 nodes have 1 child, and others have more than 1). This attempt was carried out using the LEAF function, which allows us to distinguish leaf nodes of the hierarchy. The logic consisted of summarizing this LEAF value to distinguish in each case, at which levels of the hierarchy we were.
SAC Story (Live Model): Making this change at this level is not useful for us. However, since we also don't have the possibility to access and formulate with the hierarchy nodes, we couldn't find a way to solve this problem within the SAC story either.
Customer Exit: With this approach, we found that it's possible to dynamically select the nodes in which we want to hide Measure X. However, we encountered some limitations when configuring the displayed values for parent nodes and couldn't achieve the desired result. When hiding Measure X for all child nodes of a parent node, we found that we couldn't prevent the value for the parent node from also becoming 0. Therefore, instead of only hiding the value in child nodes, it also propagates to the parent nodes (e.g., hiding all level 3 nodes results in the value not being visible or being distorted in level 2 nodes).

Hello Everyone,

Aside from SAP Events Finder, where can I find old and upcoming online workshops for example on SAP datasphere or SAC?

There's one online workshop I attended last 2020, where Derek Johnson and Holger Handel did hands-on tutorial on SAP Analytics Cloud - Planning. The link to the workshop was only shared to me by my colleague, but we don't know where it originated.

I'm interested to learn more on SAP BTP products especially on data and analytics. I want to consume as much free contents first before I subscribe to the SAP learning hub. I've completed already reading through the learning journeys and sap documentation including the SAC and Datasphere trials, now I'm interested on the workshops.

Dynamic data partitioning in BW4/HANA

HI,

We are trying to implement Dynamic data partitioning on ACDOCA ADSO which is built on a streaming process.

The current volume data in ADSO is around 2 B records. The automated partitioning on data base level which is hash partition is implemented.

When we tried dynamic partitioning on the active table through BW application perspective in properties. The field 'Fiscal Year' is selected as field for partition. Granularity Field is greyed out.

indexserver.ini -> [partitioning] ->"allow_dynamic_range_partitioning" with value "true” is set.

After this the ADSO is checked and activated which further prompts for remodeling, after the successful remodeling of an ADSO, it is observed that there is no impact on ADSO Active table, which means the partition is not implemented.

Question is there any prerequisite or any missed step which is missed here because of which the active table is not partitioned?

Also is this activity a transport required activity or can be done directly in production?

BW/4 conversion: Export datasources 8* - can it deleted before the conversion?

Hello all,

We just prepare our BW system for the BW/4HANA conversion.

In the Precheck of transaction RSB4HCONV it says that we should migrate our 3.x-datasources - but they are all export datasources, beginning with 8* (e.g. 80PUR_C01 or 80PERS_VAR). Some data of our BW system are transferred to another BW target system.

My question is: I know, that the 8*-datasource are no longer supported in BW/4. Do we really need to migrate them in the preparation phase or can we delete them already now? Are these 8*-datsources necessary to transfer the data from our BW system to the other BW system in BW 7.5?
What shall we do with these datasources?

SAP BW - Master Data Delta Load

We did a master data enhancement and planning to move the changes to production.

We are using as delta load in BW can someone, please help us on the cut over activities to be perform before moved the changes to ECC Prod.

Do we need to clear the queue?? Like we do in 2LIS_11_VAITM??

BW4HANA Views catalog

Hello,

We have been using BW4HANA last 2 years and accumulated over 600 calculated views (CVs).

One of the challenges to identify the data fields in the views. Is there any API available to read the metadata of the CVs to identify the data fields? Currently it is very challenging to identify the fields unless you use studio or some kind of reporting tools.

Any advise related to this topic is much appreciated .

Hello Experts,

Please let me know the CDS view which used like the 0EMPLOYEE_ATTR DataSource.

Until now I am using 0EMPLOYEE_ATTR DataSource which was enhanced with few custom fields and replicated the 0EMPLOYEE_ATTR DataSource to BW.

Now, I would like to replace this 0EMPLOYEE_ATTR DataSource with a cds view, and use the CDS view for BW system.

Change BW Query Initial Variable Input at runtime

Hi guys!!

I have a BW Query that is used as infoprovider in order to load inventory values (non cumulative) into an ADSO. I have to laod several weeks of history and we have more than 200 hundred plants (it a huge volumen of data). Right now I'm using a SAP Exit variable with an offset to load the diferents weeks and several queries to load separate plants in order to avoid a memory error.

So, I would like to use just one query instead of creating several Query and change the variable via ABAP during the execution of the DTP, is this feasible?

Speaking of master data, Cut Over activities depend on the changes you made.

If you only added attributes, it is just a matter of importing the changes to production and loading the new data. If it is a delta load, the new field will begin to fill little by little.

If you modified existing attributes (for example, data type change) you must validate that these attributes are not used in cubes/ADSO so that you can import your changes. If it exists in a cube/ADSO, you must first delete the content of the cubes to be able to import the changes (due to SIDS management issues).

Is it possible to merge a cell in the result of analysis for office? Something like the screenshot below.

So 3rd column calculation was the percentage of number of Ys / Total rows, so 3/5*100 = 60%.

Or what's the nearest result where I can achieve this kind of output?

Hi,

I created a planning function on the top of 0RSPL_FILE_UPLOAD_AO - File Upload from AO and enabled the authorization (filter AG_FL_AUC_02). This planning function loads csv file from users machine to SAP BW adso.

Unfortunately, SU53 generates the following error message that requires to grant user an authorization to activity types 2, 6 for filter of the aggregation level (change, delete). This authorization is granted for developers in DEV environment only.

I believe that this error message is fake and additional authorization to access csv file is required. Do u have a clue what is missing over here? See attached.

Entity in schema not found error when creating datasource on HANA_SDA connection

Hi all,

When trying to create a datasource on HANA_SDA connection I am getting this error in BW/4
Entity V_QUOTE in schema PCM_A_SDA.<NULL>.DBS06A_BW_RO not found

Message No. RSDS392

Other information that might be useful.
The Remote Source PCM_TEST is created as an SDA/SDI remote source using the Oracle Adapter in the Provisioning folder and works as expected on the HANA DB side.
The HANA_SDA connection PCM_A_SDA is created successfully in BW/4HANA as a SAP HANA Smart Data Access connection type.
We checked traces on the DB and BW/4 side and nothing came up.

Do you have any suggestions how to fix this issue?

Value is not coming for a new node in rsrt

But in RSRT screen only this columns is refelecting but no data is coming although, there is data available in the ACDOCA table shown in the below screenshot.

Error Switching to B4H Mode: "Unexpected Situation Occurred. Please Contact SAP"

Hello SAP Community,

We are currently encountering an issue when attempting to switch our operating mode to B4H. Despite ensuring that all prerequisite tasks have been completed, we consistently receive the following error message: "Unexpected situation occurred. Please contact SAP."

Has anyone else faced this problem before? If so, how were you able to resolve it? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as we are trying to troubleshoot this issue but are unsure what might be causing it.

BW HANA Sizing - Results interpretation /SDF/HANA_BW_SIZING

How should the results of the report /SDF/HANA_BW_SIZING be interpreted? is the recommended physical memory per node the final "HANA DB size" also displayed in the Readiness check report? It is very confusing as the sum of the memory 838 GB + data 1271 GB + log 512 GB disk size, is not equal to the recommended physical memory per node (1536 GB).
