Camera Access issue for Intune-Distributed users on iOS devices for SAP Mobile Start

We have an issue whereby users cannot gain access to the camera when they are onboarded on to SAP Mobile Start via Intune. In this case the video button in the top navigation bar displays in red, and the camera feature is unavailable - because the Intune-released users on iOS devices have not granted explicit permission to the camera. When users are onboarded via the QR code there is a specific pop up which requests access to the Camera so the issue is only raised via the Intune onboarding process.

Looking for some assistance with the following points:

Verify if there are any specific settings or configuration adjustments required for Intune-released users who have not completed the QR code-based onboarding process.
Provide guidance on how to enable camera access for these users or any steps they need to follow for granting camera permissions on their iOS devices.
If there are any system-wide configurations in SAP Mobile Services that need to be adjusted for these users, please advise on the best approach.
Confirm if there in any feature flag I can enable to access the camera for users who have not given permission.

Issue with User Creation for SAP Mobile Start

Hello everyone,

I'm currently facing an issue with the SAP Mobile Start application related to user creation through the Business Technology Platform (BTP). When we create a user via BTP, there seems to be no verification method in place, and therefore users cannot proceed with the process. As a result, if the user is not already an SAP user and is utilizing services like Gmail or Hotmail, they are required to create an SAP Universal ID.

I’m seeking advice on whether there is a solution or a proper approach to handle this situation. Is it mandatory for each employee to create their own SAP Universal ID, or is there an alternative method to simplify this process? For example, when I add an email to BTP, something like sending a link directly to the user's email address to create their account with a password.

Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I have activated SAP Start using booster and SAP Build Foundation Edition.

Destinations are also created and Roles are exposed to BTP but over SAP Build Site, No App is showing neither roles are appearing in Content Exposure Channel.

Facing issues with adding SVG format files in SAP MDK 24.11

Hi all,

I was working on a task to put the SAP Logo at the left side on the top action bar in our team's mobile app. I was trying to use put an SAP Logo in SVG format so as to not compromise on pixel quality as well as make the most out of MDK 24.11's updates. However, when I used the attached SVG file below in our app, it doesn't show up appropriately in the app as you guys can see in the screenshot. Can anyone help me out in this?

SAP Mobile Start fails to load App

Hello everyone,

I have created a site on Workzone where I have associated an app developed with SAP Build. If I open the site from the browser, I can access the app without any problems. However, if I access it via Mobile Start, I see the application tile, but when I click on it, I get the following error: "unable to load external app" on iOS, "unable to open app" on Android.

The application was developed using a trial account.

Below are all the steps I followed for the configuration:

Built and deployed the app in "SAP Build Apps | Build Service" for Work Zone
Added the app to Work Zone
Enabled the site setting for Mobile Start
Tested the app in the web launchpad and it works correctly
Downloaded Mobile Start on iOS and Android
Performed BTP authentication
Successfully connected to the launchpad
Viewed group and app
Clicking on the app, the error "unable to load external app" appears on iOS and "unable to open app" on Android

Do you have any idea what the problem might be?

SAP Build Work Zone, standard edition & SAP Mobile Start app: selection of language?

Dear experts,

we have a SAP Build Work Zone standard edition page, and when the page is opened on a desktop browser the user can switch between available page languages in their setting:

However when opening the same page in SAP Mobile Start app this setting for language and region seem not to be available. Am I missing something, is it not possible to switch between languages also on a mobile device?

Mobile Start-Push Notification

Hi,

We want to connect our On-prem system with Mobile Start. After all configuration/assignment, we can see documents or pending list on Mobile Start, but we couldn't see/get push notification on our mobile devices. I will put steps we've done on the system. Can you guide us on what's missing?
For example, when an order is created, the goal is to display a notification on Mobile Start, as shown
in the images.

Completed Sections:
BTP Build Workzone has been enabled for mobile start notifications. The notification settings have
been activated from the site directory settings.

Notifications have been activated in the settings section.The Cloud Connector structure is as follows.

The S/4HANA system has been connected to the BTP system via Cloud Connector and Destination.A parameter has been added to the Destination Parameter section.

NOTIF_SERVICEPATH = /sap/opu/odata4/iwngw/notification/default/iwngw/notification_srv/0001

An RFC destination has been created for the SAP BTP notification. The RFC was set up using T-Code
SM59.Certificates have been added.

The SAP S/4HANA administrator accessed T-Code SE80 to create an OAuth 2.0 client profile.The SAP_CLOUD channel has been added to the notification channel using T-Code SPRO.

The IWNGW_NOTIF_CLOUD_BGRFC queue instance has been added to the bgRFC section.
The Notification section has been added to the SFF Notification configuration.

For testing, when a notification was sent via SAP GUI, the test notification was received in the Fiori
Launchpad, but no notification was received through BTP Build Workzone.

BTP Notification Screen
The configuration for receiving notifications when SAP standard processes occur, such as the
creation of a purchase order, has been completed. The steps are listed below:
PFCG role templates have been created. The Z_PUSH_NOTIFICATION single role has been created.
The SICF node has been activated. The Service Path field has been set to "/sap/opu/odata4".
The Notification OData Service has been published. The OData V4 service
/IWNGW/NOTIFICATION_SRV has been created.

The Push Channels have been configured. An ABAP Push Channel is used to send notifications to the
Fiori Launchpad. The recommended approach is to use a WebSocket connection for this purpose, as
WebSockets establish a bidirectional communication channel between the server and the client. The
WebSocket setup has been completed.
The Define Inbound Destination configuration has been checked.
The notification provider sections have been saved and activated.

New records have been created in the Notification section using T-Code SWF_PUSH_NOTIF1.

Example Notification

A connection has been established between Fiori Launchpad and BTP Workzone. Notifications for
the incoming orders appear in the My Inbox section of the Fiori Launchpad, but no notifications are
being received in BTP Workzone, even though the orders are visible in the My Inbox there. Due to
the inability to receive notifications, the Task Center has been set up.
Task Center Setup Procedures:
The SAP Task Center Mobile Start setup has been completed. The configuration was done through
the Launchpad Service by the site administrator.

A new Group and Role have been added.

An X.509 certificate has been applied and the configuration has been updated in the Cloud
Connector section.
The service settings for Task Center have been configured in the S/4HANA system.
The Identity_Authentication_Connectivity_IDS URL has been configured in the BTP subaccount.

A destination has been created in the BTP Destination section to connect to S/4HANA.

At the end, we couldn't see any item on Task Center list.

Does SAP Mobile Start support Zebra laser barcode scanning from a SAPUI5 app?

Hi,

We use SAP Fiori Client to expose SAP Work Zone Standard on our Zebra (Android) mobile devices. These devices have a built-in laser scanner and from the SAPUI5 apps running in Work Zone we can programmatically interact with the Zebra laser scanner to read barcodes and QR codes. We use Android Intents (via a Cordova plugin) with Zebra Data Wedge software for this as per Zebra's best practice. Works perfectly. All good.

Note that Android Intent broadcast/listeners cannot be implemented in pure JavaScript and need some native Android code. Also note that Zebra do not provide public JavaScript APIs outside of their proprietary "Zebra Enterprise Browser" software, which we don't want to use unless we are forced to.

We are moving to SAP Mobile Start on our regular mobile devices (Android and iOS), and ideally would like to on our Zebra devices with laser scanners as well. SAP Mobile Start has no native plugin technology like SAP Fiori Client does to run native code.

Does anyone know of any possible way that a SAPUI5 app running inside Work Zone Standard, deployed on SAP Mobile Start, can programmatically interact with the laser scanner on Zebra devices? We don't want to create custom native or MDK apps as we have a ton of existing SAPUI5 apps that work fine within SAP Fiori Client interacting with the Zebra laser scanner.

We are presuming we'll be forced into using Zebra Enterprise Browser to achieve this, but I am hoping someone knows another way. I have no issue with Zebra Enterprise Browser, we've used it before. But this will give our users 2 different experiences depending on which device they are holding. Our sites are a mix of Zebra and non-Zebra mobile devices and ideally we wanted to use SAP Mobile Start for everything. And using the camera on a Zebra device to scan a barcode would be totally unacceptable for obvious reasons.

Unable to Open URL in SAP Mobile Start

Hello Experts,

Use Case: I have Custom UI5 Application, I have configured it in SAP Build Work zone and using it in SAP Mobile Start. So, we have some quick links to navigate to different applications. So, when we click on links it navigates to router application and there, we have configured URLs based on ID in parameter which is passed during navigation. It finds out URL and Navigates there.
Issue: In launchpad it redirects but in Mobile start it does not.
Workaround Done Till now: Checked router code it uses 'window.open(url,_blank)', Changed it to 'sap.m.URLHelper.redirect(url,true)'. But it won't work.
Requesting experts to please share your suggestions.

MDK Binding and Control access issues

Hi,

I have a couple of issues when developing my MDK App. The flow of my application is:

- We start on Main page, where Simple Property is used for Search.

- User provides Article Number in the Search field (or uses barcode scanning).

- When clicking 'Search' a Function Import using an Action is triggered. FI returns an Article Object.

- Then we want to show Article Object data below the Search field (preffered option is KeyValue fields).

We have following issues:

1. Cannot retrieve KeyValue control from Main page. While we can get 'ArticleDescriptionLabel', for 'Type' we get error: 'Could not find control 'Type' in view hierarchy'.

Here's control tree:

The name of KeyValue this case is 'Type'.

2. As you can see our Code above, we receive Article object from Function Import via the Rule, but we don't know what's the best way to display the Article data in the view (e.g. many KeyValues or SimpleProperties).

The only option we've found is accessing controls and then using setValue, setText methods, as above. But the code is redundant, and it would be better to use bindings.

We tried using Client Data, but then the value of the control is not being updated. It's like the binding is not refreshed.

3. SimpleProperty missing events.

The only event we can use in SimpleProperty is OnValueChange for now. But it gets triggered each time a character is typed. Is there any option to call it once, only when typing is done? iOS keyboard has 'Done' button, which could be used to trigger 'Submit' event or 'ValueChanged'. In our case we want to trigger a function import when User types a complete Article Number. We can't trigger it OnValueChange. 4. Bluetooth support.

If we start using nativescript ble package for Bluetooth device scanning, will it work in SAP Mobile Start when we deploy our app to Cloud, or it works with branded MDK client only? When we develop the app and use SAP Mobile Services client from App Store for app preview, will we be able to test our NativeScript plugins? what's the best way to develop and test such extensions?

SAP mobile start could not load external app for many supported standard apps

While trying to open the app "Transfer Stock - In-Plant" in SAP Mobile Start Application it is not opening and giving the error "could not load external app". There are other apps that are loading without issues and also this app is opening successfully in the desktop and on the mobile browser. Only in the app it gives this error.

There are other apps with such issues as well such as Stock - Single Material, Post Goods Receipt, Post Goods Receipt for Production Order, and many other. One of the example of the app that is opening correctly is Manage Central Supplier Confirmation.

SAP Mobile Start - Cannot load external app

I create a mobile start app in SAP Build Workzone, standard edition.

I created a simple app which directs to a Myntra shopping app. I am able to see this app in Mobile but i get a error as "can not load an external app" when launching from Mobile Start.

We want to access the SAP Public Cloud System through SAP Mobile Start and having SAP Build Work Zone Standard Edition , after manual configuration , required Apps are still not showing. Please suggest , what is missing or any step by step guide.

Following activities have been performed.

SAP Public Cloud system is registered within System Landscape of BTP Global Account.

SAP Mobile Start via SAP Start Booster – No Apps or Products Showing Post Setup (Foundation Plan)

We are currently working on enabling access to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Fiori applications via the SAP Mobile Start app, using the SAP Start booster in SAP BTP. However, we are facing an issue where no content appears on the SAP Start launchpad—even though the setup completes successfully.

Initial Approach – Manual Configuration

Initially, we tried to manually expose S/4HANA content to SAP Build Work Zone (Foundation Plan):

Verified that relevant business catalogs were marked as “Available for SAP Build Work Zone / SAP Start.”
Ensured that business roles were properly configured and exposed to SAP BTP.

Challenge:
Due to limitations of the Foundation Plan, we were unable to access the Content Manager or assign roles in the Site Directory, which prevented us from proceeding further with manual setup.

Alternative Approach – SAP Start Booster

To overcome these constraints, we executed the “Set Up SAP Start” Booster from SAP BTP. The booster ran successfully and completed the following:

✅ Created the BTP subaccount, assigned entitlements, and configured trust.
✅ Subscribed to SAP Build Work Zone – Foundation Plan.
✅ Configured destinations to the SAP S/4HANA Cloud system.
✅ Created the default SAP Start site.
✅ Set up SAP Cloud Identity Services (IAS and IPS).
✅ Integrated the S/4HANA Cloud system automatically.

As a result, the SAP Start site is now accessible via both desktop and the SAP Mobile Start app.

Current Issue

Despite the successful booster execution:

⚠️ SAP Start site shows the message:
“Currently, there aren’t any products for you. Please check back again later.”
⚠️ No Fiori apps or S/4HANA content is visible in the launchpad.

Troubleshooting Performed

We have already validated the following:

🔹 Trust configuration between BTP and IAS is correctly set.
🔹 Users are provisioned and mapped properly via IPS.
🔹 Exposed business catalogs and roles in S/4HANA.
🔹 Booster completed without any reported errors.
🔹 Attempted to recheck destinations and Channel Manager (though limited under Foundation Plan).
🔹 Tried accessing SAP Start from both desktop and mobile, same result.

Request for Help / Clarifications

We’d appreciate your support with the following:

Is there any missing step required to make the apps visible after the booster setup?
Does the Foundation Plan impose any limitation that restricts content visibility in SAP Start?
Would upgrading to SAP Build Work Zone – Standard Plan be required for full SAP Start functionality?
Can anyone who successfully implemented SAP Mobile Start via Foundation Plan share insights?

Any pointers or confirmations from the SAP team or community experts would be greatly appreciated.

How to approve/reject tasks directly in SAP Mobile Start app (s/4hana cloud public edition)

Hello,

We have integrated SAP S/4HANA Cloud with SAP Mobile Start through SAP Build Work Zone.
The purchaser and purchasing manager roles have been exposed to BTP and assigned in Build Work Zone.

After completing all notification-related configurations, we are able to receive purchase requisition approval tasks both on the mobile device and on the Build Work Zone home page.

However, to actually approve or reject a task, we still need to navigate to the tenant and process it there.

Is there a way to handle these approval/rejection actions directly from the SAP Mobile Start app without navigating to the tenant?

Issue with Action Buttons for Purchase Requisition Tasks in SAP Task Center Integration

Hi,

We are currently configuring the integration between SAP Task Center and SAP S/4HANA to enable the approval and rejection of Purchase Requisition tasks through SAP Mobile Start.

At this stage, the tasks and their details are being successfully retrieved by Task Center. However, we are facing an issue where the “Accept” and “Reject” action buttons are not functioning properly, preventing users from completing the approval process.

The buttons don't show any letter and have different message errors when clicked.

When clicking the supposed Accept or Reject buttons (Which are only red or green with no text) it says that 0 is selected, indepentendly of which button is chosen.

When "Submit" is clicked the next error is presented:

SAP Start (Mobile): List item selection issue after orientation change

Hi everyone,

We have a UI5 application running on SAP Start, designed for mobile usage. The application contains a list (sap.m.List) where users select list item(s) (sap.m.CustomListItem) in multi-select mode (over selecting checkboxes) to continue processing.

We have identified an issue related to mobile device orientation changes. When the user switches from portrait (vertical) to landscape (horizontal), list selection continues to work as expected. However, when switching back to portrait mode, the list items become "unselectable" and no longer respond to selection attempts on the checkbox.

Application UI5 Framework version: 1.120.x

Launchpad UI5 Framework version: 1.143.x

SAP Start App version: 2.5.0
