Best Practice for handling SUM log files

Background:

During the upgrade SUM generates log files. From the SUM guide, help docs and experiences I've learned, that...

SUM itself copies log files of past runs into a separate folder structure.
There's also some advice from SAP to cleanse old log files.

Now I wonder what is the actual best practice? How are you doing it?

I would assume...

the recently created or the older log files are taken off the fileshare and kept in a cheap storage location. Directly readable or in some compressed archive.
the files are kept for longer as they document what happened. Because some issues / warnings or situations might have gone unnoticed but raise issues later.
the files can help also in SAP support cases
the files are never deleted for above reasons or only deleted after x years or n further upgrades,...

Of some I've heard they didn't care about them, some throw them away real quick, some zip them directly after to a separate fileshare... it's wild.

Question:
Once a technical upgrade is completed - do you keep the log files created by SUM? How long? How far of reach?
Please feel encouraged to share your experiences even if it's already listed by someone else.

Questions regarding GRC 12.0 conversion (NetWeaver 7.52 to S/4HANA 2023 Foundation).

Dear All,

we are planning an system conversion for our GRC system which is running on NW7.52 to S/4HANA 2023 Foundation and I have the following questions around it. Please check and let me know.

1) Where can I find the details which highlights the advantages(New features) for moving from NetWeaver 7.52 to S/4HANA 2023 Foundation for my GRC 12.0 system.

2) I see the GRC foundation component changing from V1200 to V8100. What is the impact of moving to V8100. Is there a SAP note explaining it.

3) I would also like check if there is a possibility of retaining the GRC foundation component V1200 intact even after conversion to S/4HANA 2023 Foundation.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been diving deep into video editing recently—mostly for YouTube and a few freelance projects—and I’ve hit a major bottleneck: rendering time. Even short videos in 1080p or 4K are taking an unusually long time to export, sometimes 30–45 minutes depending on the effects, transitions, and grading involved.

I’m currently editing with [insert your editor—e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve] on a decent mid-range setup (16 GB RAM, Ryzen 5, GTX 1660), but I feel like the software isn’t using my system efficiently. Before I look at hardware upgrades, I wanted to check in here for some practical advice.

Here are a few questions I have:

Are there render settings or formats I can tweak to speed up the process without heavily sacrificing quality?
I’ve heard of proxy editing—does it affect final render time or just smooth the workflow during editing?
How important is hardware acceleration, and how do I enable it correctly for my setup?
Are there better codecs or formats for faster rendering, especially for platforms like YouTube?
Would a dedicated rendering plugin help?
Should I be closing all background apps while exporting?

Also, I’ve seen some newer tools developed by video editing app development companies that claim faster rendering using AI or GPU optimization. Has anyone tried one of these newer editors or apps?

I retried the import using the “Ignore General Error” option, but it stopped again at the same point.

We have a S/4 HANA 2022 that´s running. Now a new SAP S/4 HANA 2025 was created and we need to configure this new SAP. It´s not an upgrade, I cannot upgrade the S/4 HANA 2022.

Hello ,

we are running SUM for S4HANA Conversion with the "Prerequisite Extended Check". Currently we have done the spdd adjustment in the Prerequisite Extended Check on the shadowinstance, here we have done all adjustments saved in a transport on shadow system.

in the mentioned note above 3212181 - SPDD adjustment in Prerequisite Check Extended mode with SUM 2.0. is only mentioned that we do not need to adjust the objects in extended check "SPDD adjustment in Prerequisite Check Extended mode is not mandatory."

So my question is, because it is just the "Prerequisite Extended Check" -> can we use this transport for our real run on our system? Does SUM releases this transport in Prerequisite Extended Check? Or do we need to do these adjustments again when we starting the standard SUM configuration?
