    "notes": "Kodiak Island is one of the world's most productive salmon areas. Karluk Lake/River is historically famous for enormous sockeye runs — it was a primary driver of early cannery development (1880s-1920s). The Ayakulik (Red River) is currently the largest Kodiak sockeye producer. Kodiak also has major pink salmon runs."
