It appeared in the fourth century [AH]. This means the three favored centuries passed without anyone observing it. It was established in the fourth century, then became more common, widespread, and deeply rooted in the seventh century. Praise be to Allah, there are written works that clarify the origins of this innovation (bid’ah), its foundation, and its standing in the Sharia, and [confirming] that it has no basis in the law (Sharia) of Allah.
