# AGL Resources (now Southern Company Gas)

> AGL Resources was an energy services holding company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, whose principal business was the distribution of natural gas to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. In 2016 it was acquired by Southern Company and renamed Southern Company Gas, becoming the largest natural-gas-only distribution company in the United States. AGL Resources no longer exists as an operating brand.

- The legacy corporate domain `www.aglresources.com` redirects to `https://www.southerncompanygas.com/` (HTTP 200 after redirect). The successor site is a corporate/consumer information site with no developer area.
- Every `/.well-known/` path probed on `southerncompanygas.com`, `atlantagaslight.com` and the parent `southerncompany.com` returned HTTP 404. See `well-known/agl-resources-well-known.yml`.
- Programmatic access to natural gas usage data for these service territories, where it exists at all, is brokered by third-party utility data aggregators with customer consent — not by a first-party AGL / Southern Company Gas API.
