# American Express

> American Express is a globally integrated payments company and card network offering charge and credit cards, merchant acquiring, corporate payments, travel, and Membership Rewards loyalty. Its Amex for Developers platform (developer.americanexpress.com) publishes a partner-oriented catalog of REST APIs spanning tokenization, fraud prevention, PSD2 open banking, corporate expense management, points redemption, bank-transfer payment initiation, and network loyalty. Access is onboarding-gated for registered issuers, merchants, acquirers, and partners — there is no open self-service and no public OpenAPI. APIs are secured with mutual TLS, HMAC request signing, and OAuth 2.0.
