# Autoderm — AI Dermatology API > Autoderm is a white-label REST API for AI-powered analysis of skin images. POST one image to > https://api.autoderm.ai and receive the top five most probable dermatological conditions, each with a > confidence score (0-1), an ICD-10 code and an English name, plus optional Fitzpatrick skin-type > classification. Autoderm is a regulated medical device — CE-marked under EU MDD 93/42/EEC as a legacy > Class I device, transitioning to MDR Class IIa, and holding FDA Breakthrough Device Designation. It is a > decision-support and triage tool, NOT a diagnostic device. ## Read this first Autoderm's documentation places MANDATORY requirements on any interface that displays its output. If you are building an agent, chatbot, or UI on this API you must: - Display "Results are for information only and are not a medical diagnosis." wherever results are shown, visible without scrolling and never obscured. - Treat confidence scores comparatively (ranking likelihood), not as clinical probabilities. - Never present a result as an "all clear" — the device cannot output "no disease detected". - Give end users the Instructions for Use, or equivalent instructions carrying at minimum all the safety warnings in the official eIFU. Full text: https://docs.autoderm.ai/en/medical-device/interface-creation ## Authentication HTTP Bearer token in the Authorization header. Server-to-server only; never embed in client-side code. Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_TOKEN Tokens are issued from the Autoderm dashboard at https://app.autoderm.ai. There is no OAuth 2.0 authorization server, no OpenID Connect discovery, and no scopes. Missing or invalid credentials return HTTP 401 with the body {"detail":"Missing Authorization header"}. ## Base URL https://api.autoderm.ai The legacy platform (https://autoderm.ai/v1, primary endpoint /v1/query, Api-Key header auth) is being retired. Legacy authentication is not accepted on the new platform. Migration guide: https://docs.autoderm.ai/en/disease-detection-api/migrating-from-legacy-api ## APIs - [Autoderm AI Dermatology API](https://docs.autoderm.ai/en): REST API for skin-image inference — disease detection, skin tone, blur screening, content safety, and the regulatory device label. ## Specs - [OpenAPI 3.1.0 (live)](https://api.autoderm.ai/openapi.json): 17 operations, version 2.3.6. Mirrored byte-identically at https://docs.autoderm.ai/openapi.json - [OpenAPI (repo copy)](openapi/autoderm-ai-dermatology-api-openapi.yml) ## Core operations - `POST /v1/infer-diseases/v1` — the primary endpoint. multipart/form-data with an `image` field. Query params: `include_skin_tone` (bool, default false), `require_anonymous` (bool, default false). Returns `{predictions: [{disease, confidence, icd_10, name}], skin_tone?}`. - `GET /v1/infer-diseases/v1/diseases` — the static disease catalog: ICD-10 code, categories, and localized name / layman's name / read-more URL in en, fr, de, it, es, sv, zh. Fetch ONCE and cache; the docs explicitly say not to call this at runtime. - `POST /v1/utils/detect-blur` — screen image quality before spending a metered inference call. Returns `{is_blurry, variance}`. - `POST /v1/infer-skin-tone/v1` — Fitzpatrick skin type 1-6 with confidence. - `POST /v1/infer-genitals/v1` — binary content-safety classifier. - `POST /v1/infer-age/v1` — predicted age in years. - `GET /v1/label` — the regulatory medical-device label (anonymous). Manufacturer, CE mark class, UDI, eIFU pointer, UK responsible person. - `GET /version`, `GET /health` — anonymous; version and liveness. ## Image requirements - Minimum resolution 224 x 224 pixels. - Maximum file size 5 MB per the documentation. (The live OpenAPI schema descriptions say 10.00 MB — the two disagree; treat 5 MB as the safe ceiling.) - Accepted formats: JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, WebP, DICOM and related formats. - The lesion should fill most of the frame, in focus, evenly lit, plain background, no filters, unedited. ## Conventions - No idempotency key. Retrying a timed-out inference call bills a second detection. - No pagination — no operation returns a paged collection. - No rate-limit headers. Metering is by monthly detection quota, not requests per second. - `x-request-id` (UUID) is returned on every response; quote it when contacting support. - Errors are `{"detail": ...}` as application/json — an ARRAY of validation objects on 422, a plain STRING on 401. Not RFC 9457. - Semantic versioning; 90-day advance notice before any deprecation. ## Docs - [Overview](https://docs.autoderm.ai/en/getting-started/overview) - [Getting started](https://docs.autoderm.ai/en/getting-started/getting-started) - [Disease Detection API](https://docs.autoderm.ai/en/disease-detection-api/disease-detection-api) - [Migrating from the legacy API](https://docs.autoderm.ai/en/disease-detection-api/migrating-from-legacy-api) - [API versioning & deprecation policy](https://docs.autoderm.ai/en/support/api-versioning) - [Service Level Agreement](https://docs.autoderm.ai/en/support/service-level-agreement) - [Support & contact](https://docs.autoderm.ai/en/support/support-contact) - [Interface creation requirements](https://docs.autoderm.ai/en/medical-device/interface-creation) - [eIFU — Electronic Instructions For Use](https://docs.autoderm.ai/en/medical-device/eifu) - [Swagger UI](https://docs.autoderm.ai/en/swagger-ui) - [API reference](https://docs.autoderm.ai/en/api-reference) ## Commercial - [Pricing](https://autoderm.ai/pricing/): Trial — 5 one-time detections, free, no card.
