# Beazley

> Beazley plc is a London-headquartered specialty insurer and one of the largest managing agents at Lloyd's of London, writing cyber and technology risks, professional indemnity, management liability, marine, political risk, contingency, environmental, healthcare and property. Unusually for a carrier, Beazley runs a real first-party developer portal at developer.beazley.com — an Azure API Management portal with self-serve account signup, a publicly browsable catalog of 14 published APIs across nine families, sandbox twins, and downloadable OpenAPI 3.0.1 for every one of them. The APIs are partner-and-broker oriented: risk and quote data capture into Beazley's core Record of Risk systems, broker and insured marketing data, compliance validation, currency exchange, a cyber test rater, and insurance-terms reference data.

## How access works

- Browsing the catalog and downloading every OpenAPI is anonymous — no account needed.
- A developer account is self-serve at https://developer.beazley.com/signup (email + password, no partner SSO).
- Calling the gateway is NOT self-serve. All nine Azure APIM products are subscriptionRequired=true AND approvalRequired=true, so Beazley must approve each subscription before a key works.
- Auth is API key only: `Ocp-Apim-Subscription-Key` request header, or `subscription-key` query parameter. No OAuth 2.0, no OpenID Connect, no mutual TLS.
- An unauthenticated call returns HTTP 401 with `WWW-Authenticate: AzureApiManagementKey realm="https://api.beazley.com/<path>", name="Ocp-Apim-Subscription-Key", type="header"`.
- API questions go to ITArchitecture@Beazley.com — the address named in every published OpenAPI.

## What is NOT on this surface

- No bind, no policy issuance, no FNOL. Brokers bind through the gated myBeazley quote-and-bind portal; claims are notified by web form and email.
- No webhooks, no events, no AsyncAPI, no GraphQL, no gRPC.
- No SDKs on npm, PyPI or any other registry; no CLI; no public Postman collection.
- No ACORD, AL3, IVANS or NGDS reference anywhere in the portal or the specs. Beazley's only ACORD linkage is market-level: it sat in Lloyd's seventeen-firm closed beta for the Blueprint Two Core Data Record.
- No changelog, no deprecation policy, no roadmap, no SLA, no status page, no /.well-known/ documents.
