# Beme > Beme Inc. (stylized "beme") was an American multimedia company founded in 2014 in New York City by > YouTube filmmaker Casey Neistat and engineer Matt Hackett. Its mobile app let users capture and > instantly share unedited 2-to-8-second videos without previewing them. CNN acquired Beme in > November 2016; the app was shut down on January 31, 2017 and the company was folded into CNN > Digital Studios on January 25, 2018. Beme is DEFUNCT and never published a public API. ## Status - Company status: defunct (2014-2018) - Public API: none. Beme never operated a developer program, API documentation, or developer portal. - Domain: beme.com no longer belongs to Beme Inc.; it redirects to Hazel Health (https://www.hazel.co/), an unrelated company.
