# Bitstrips (Bitmoji) > Bitstrips was a Toronto-based consumer software company (founded 2007) that created the Bitstrips comic platform and the Bitmoji personal-avatar app. Snap Inc. acquired Bitstrips in March 2016 and now operates the technology as Bitmoji. The public developer surface is the Bitmoji Direct API (Bitmoji for Developers): an OAuth2 authorization-code-with-PKCE flow granting access to a connected user's avatar ID, sticker packs, and sticker search. The "Bitmoji For Identity" product is deprecated. ## APIs - [Bitmoji Direct API](https://github.com/Bitmoji/BitmojiForDevelopers): OAuth2 (auth code + PKCE) access to avatar, sticker packs, and search.
