# Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) > Australia's independent statutory aviation safety regulator, established under the Civil Aviation Act 1988. CASA maintains the Australian Civil Aircraft Register (VH- marks), issues Airworthiness Directives, licenses flight crew and maintenance organisations, certifies air operators, and regulates drone and RPAS operations. CASA publishes no developer portal and no OpenAPI. Its machine-consumable surface is two open, no-key bulk data products served from services.casa.gov.au, plus one approval-gated partner API (the CASA RPAS Digital Platform). This file was generated by API Evangelist from the catalog entry at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/api-evangelist/casa-aviation/refs/heads/main/apis.yml It is not published by CASA. ## APIs - [CASA Airworthiness Directives Data Files](https://www.casa.gov.au/aircraft/airworthiness/airworthiness-directives/data-files-all-airworthiness-directives): Open, unauthenticated bulk files covering every current Australian Airworthiness Directive. Base host https://services.casa.gov.au. No API key, no registration, no terms acceptance. - [Australian Civil Aircraft Register Data Files](https://www.casa.gov.au/aircraft/aircraft-registration/data-files-registered-aircraft): The complete Australian civil aircraft register as a daily comma-delimited file (~7.6MB) and a zip equivalent (~1MB). Published under CASR 47.030. Base host https://services.casa.gov.au/CSV. - [CASA RPAS Digital Platform API](https://www.casa.gov.au/drones/industry-initiatives/digital-platform): Partner-only API supplying CASA advisories, notifications and geospatial map data to drone safety applications, and processing Automated Airspace Authorisations. Base host https://data.casa.rpasplatform.net. Requires a service account, a signed four-year agreement, a CASA onboarding check-out and a paid Airservices Australia airspace data licence. ## Data files - [combinedadweb.json](https://services.casa.gov.au/JSON/combinedadweb.json): All current Airworthiness Directives with aircraft and equipment references. Bespoke `{"DATA":[...]}` envelope. CASA states the format is subject to change. - [adweb.csv](https://services.casa.gov.au/airworth/airwd/data/adweb.csv): All current Airworthiness Directives, CSV. - [folder.csv](https://services.casa.gov.au/airworth/airwd/data/folder.csv): Aircraft and equipment types, CSV. - [acrftreg.csv](https://services.casa.gov.au/CSV/acrftreg.csv): Full Australian civil aircraft register, updated daily. - [acrftreg.zip](https://services.casa.gov.au/CSV/acrftreg.zip): Zip-compressed equivalent of acrftreg.csv. Individual Airworthiness Directive documents are addressable as PDFs under `https://services.casa.gov.au/airworth/airwd/ADfiles//.pdf`, keyed by the `FOLDERNAME` and `ADFILE` fields in combinedadweb.json. ## Docs - [Data files - all Airworthiness Directives](https://www.casa.gov.au/aircraft/airworthiness/airworthiness-directives/data-files-all-airworthiness-directives) - [Airworthiness Directives](https://www.casa.gov.au/aircraft/airworthiness/airworthiness-directives) - [Data files - registered aircraft](https://www.casa.gov.au/aircraft/aircraft-registration/data-files-registered-aircraft) - [Downloading and using our data files](https://www.casa.gov.au/aircraft/aircraft-registration/data-files-registered-aircraft/downloading-and-using-our-data-files) - [Meaning of coded fields - registered aircraft](https://www.casa.gov.au/aircraft/aircraft-registration/data-files-registered-aircraft/meaning-coded-fields-registered-aircraft) - [List of coded fields - registered aircraft](https://www.casa.gov.au/aircraft/aircraft-registration/data-files-registered-aircraft/list-coded-fields-registered-aircraft) - [Aircraft register search centre](https://www.casa.gov.au/search-centre/aircraft-register) - [RPAS Digital Platform](https://www.casa.gov.au/drones/industry-initiatives/digital-platform) - [RPAS Platform Concept of Operations (PDF)](https://www.casa.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-09/rpas-platform-concept-of-operations.pdf) - [RPAS Platform Operating Rules (PDF)](https://www.casa.gov.au/sites/default/files/2022-06/rpas-platform-operating-rules.pdf) - [RPAS Platform Test Procedure (PDF)](https://www.casa.gov.au/sites/default/files/2026-06/rpas-platform-test-procedure.pdf) - [RPAS Platform Terms and Conditions (PDF)](https://www.casa.gov.au/sites/default/files/2021-09/rpas-platform-terms-conditions.pdf) - [CASA-verified drone safety apps](https://www.casa.gov.au/knowyourdrone/drone-safety-apps) ## API Evangelist artifacts These are derived by API Evangelist from the live CASA files and CASA's own published documents. They are not published or endorsed by CASA. - [Vocabulary](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/api-evangelist/casa-aviation/refs/heads/main/vocabulary/casa-aviation-vocabulary.yml): the complete, exhaustive value set for every enumerable field in both data products, computed over all 16,660 register rows and all 17,738 AD records on 2026-07-28. - [Aircraft register row schema](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/api-evangelist/casa-aviation/refs/heads/main/json-schema/casa-aviation-aircraft-register-row.schema.json) and [Airworthiness Directive schema](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/api-evangelist/casa-aviation/refs/heads/main/json-schema/casa-aviation-airworthiness-directive.schema.json). - [Register examples](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/api-evangelist/casa-aviation/refs/heads/main/examples/casa-aviation-aircraft-register-examples.json) and [AD examples](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/api-evangelist/casa-aviation/refs/heads/main/examples/casa-aviation-airworthiness-directives-examples.json): real records pulled from the live files, register addresses redacted. - [Conventions](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/api-evangelist/casa-aviation/refs/heads/main/conventions/casa-aviation-conventions.yml): transport, encodings, identifiers, the AD PDF URL template, conditional-request support. - [Agent skills](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/api-evangelist/casa-aviation/refs/heads/main/skills/_index.yml): three packaged operating procedures - ingest the register, look up airworthiness directives, qualify for RPAS Platform access. ## Notes for agents - There is no OpenAPI, Swagger, AsyncAPI, GraphQL schema, MCP server, JSON Schema or Postman collection published by CASA. Re-verified exhaustively on 2026-07-28 across all four CASA hosts (36 probes, zero hits), and CASA mirrors nothing to data.gov.au. - POLL CONDITIONALLY. Both open files serve `ETag` and `Last-Modified`, and both `If-None-Match` and `If-Modified-Since` return a real `304` with an empty body (verified 2026-07-28). The host offers no gzip, so an unconditional daily poll costs 14MB for nothing. `HEAD` and `Range` also work. - Filter airworthiness directives on `Status in ("Active", "Urgent")`. `Cancelled` is 24.4% of the file, and `Urgent` is a separate status, not a flag on `Active` - filtering for `Active` alone drops all 419 urgent directives. - The aircraft register CSV has a UTF-8 BOM (read it as `utf-8-sig`) and Australian `DD/MM/YYYY` dates. The AD product uses ISO `YYYY-MM-DD`. The two disagree. - The register carries the name and postal address of every registration holder, and roughly a third are private individuals. Treat it as personal information; do not republish rows wholesale. - Nothing joins the airworthiness data to the aircraft register. "Which directives apply to VH-XYZ" is not answerable from the published data. - The two open products are whole-file downloads, not query APIs: there is no pagination, no filtering and no per-record REST endpoint. Fetch the file, then filter locally. - `https://www.casa.gov.au/search-centre/aircraft-register/api` is NOT API documentation. It is the aircraft register record for the aircraft carrying registration mark VH-API. Do not treat it as a developer surface. - The RPAS Platform feeds named in the Operating Rules require authentication with a CASA-issued service account; they are not anonymously reachable. - services.casa.gov.au and data.casa.rpasplatform.net return HTTP 403 to unadorned programmatic clients; a browser-like client is required.
