# Cask (CDAP)

> Cask Data, Inc. was the a16z-backed big-data startup that built and open-sourced CDAP, the Cask Data
> Application Platform — a framework for building and running data analytic applications and data
> pipelines on Hadoop, Spark, Kubernetes, and the cloud. Cask was acquired by Google Cloud. CDAP
> continues as an Apache-2.0 open source project at github.com/cdapio and powers Google Cloud Data
> Fusion. CDAP's programmatic surface is its HTTP RESTful "Microservices" API, served under a /v3 path
> prefix from a self-hosted CDAP router. Cask's own cask.co domain no longer serves company content.

Key facts for agents: CDAP is self-hosted software, not a vendor-operated SaaS API. There is no public
API host, no signup, no API keys, and no rate limits. The base URL is http://<host>:<port> where port
defaults to 11015 (router.bind.port), or 10443 over TLS (router.ssl.server.port). All resources are
scoped by namespace: /v3/namespaces/<namespace-id>/... The reserved namespaces are cdap, default, and
system. When security.enabled=true, every call must carry "Authorization: Bearer <access-token>" with a
token obtained from the CDAP authentication server. There is no OpenAPI definition, no OAuth scope
surface, no webhooks or events, and no documented idempotency or pagination contract.
